Hotel was in excellent location for visiting all the sites with lots of bars and restaurants within couple of minutes walk.Room was clean, quiet with very comfortable bed. and good view of the cathedral. Our car was two high for the hotel car park but we were advised of a suitable park just a few minutes away.Would certainly recommend staying there.

Staff friendly. Room clean & comfortable. Bathroom had no cold water so only very hot water from tap & shower. When reported to reception they merely just made a note. I would have expected more than that.

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am pleased to hear that you found our team friendly and your room clean and comfortable. However, I sincerely regret that the water issue in your bathroom significantly affected your stay. As I explained to you personally this morning, I investigated the matter and identified the cause. Unfortunately, while our technician was working on a leak in the toilet cistern of the adjoining Suite 206, the cold-water supply to your room was inadvertently shut off. This was clearly a human error on our part, and I sincerely apologize. I also fully acknowledge that simply noting your complaint at reception was not enough. We should have investigated the problem immediately and found a solution for you. Our teams always do their utmost to satisfy our guests, and on this occasion, we fell short of our usual standards. As mentioned in my email, we have decided to refund 50% of your room charge as a gesture of goodwill. Our reception team will process this shortly. We hope that, despite this unfortunate incident, you will remember the Hôtel Mercure Rouen Centre Cathédrale for its exceptional location in the heart of Rouen’s historic centre, right at the foot of the cathedral, and for the professionalism and dedication of our teams. We are also pleased that you enjoyed our breakfast and the warm welcome from our teams. We are sorry that you found access to the car park difficult. Our location in the historic centre, with restricted access controlled by the city’s bollards, does make arriving by car more complex. We systematically send detailed access instructions by email before arrival, followed by an SMS on the day of arrival, to help our guests reach the hotel as easily as possible. We will nevertheless continue to look for ways to make these instructions even clearer. Please also accept our apologies for the slow check-in. As with your arrival, completing the details online should normally make the process quicker. However, the recent deployment of a new hotel management system is currently making check-ins slower than usual. Our teams are becoming increasingly familiar with the new system and we are confident that the process will soon become much more fluid. Thank you again for your kind comments about our staff. Hotel is in a great central location, and the breakfast was tasty with a good variety of choices. Staff was always friendly and professional. The room however was lacking -- bed was extremely hard and the pillows extremely. The airconditioner did not appear to make any difference to the room temperature. It was very hot and stuffy and altogether a very uncomfortable night with little sleep. If we were staying more than the one night I would have mentioned this to reception at the time.

Parking lot was open but full. We had to manouvre a lot to get our big car into the tiny parking lot and drive all the way down to find out it was full, then drive out and having other cars driving towards us in the tiny space. Later on we found a parking space near the cathedrale in the city as the entrance to the other, recommended underground parking was difficult to find. When we found our car next morning the rear window was broken and several items were stolen: our baby monitor, my deceased grandfather’s binoculars and some souvenirs we bought for our family at home. We went to the police station for a formal “plainte” but they told us we should not expect anything from it. This was not the ending we had in mind for our last night of summer holidays after spending 2 pleasant weeks in Normandy.

Having your car broken into and personal belongings, including items of great sentimental value, stolen must have been particularly upsetting, and we fully understand your disappointment. Regarding our underground car park, we regret the difficulties you encountered. It is located directly beneath the hotel, but its historic configuration makes it relatively narrow and the number of spaces is limited. It is not possible to reserve a space in advance. We understand, however, that discovering it was full after driving down into the car park was particularly frustrating, especially with a larger vehicle. We systematically send our guests detailed instructions by email before arrival, followed by an SMS on the day of arrival, explaining how to reach the hotel and the available parking options. We are also very sorry to hear about the break-in to your car. Unfortunately, the incident occurred in a public parking area in the city and was outside the hotel’s premises and control. We fully understand that this does not make the loss any less distressing, particularly regarding your grandfather’s binoculars, which clearly had an irreplaceable sentimental value. Excellent friendly staff.Carpark VERY tight but we were guided on how to best get in the space.If you have a large car I would park somewhere else.Otherwise great stay.
