We were awoken at 6:00 am by bin trucks emptying refuse bins. Not good for a hotel that sells itself as a 5*. When I informed the receptionist he muttered that he was sorry. Not good enough either.

I had the best time at this hotel. My room was comfortable, the views were great, the spa was lovely, location was fantastic, rooftop bar was lovely, but by far - the best part was your front desk team. I had a rough weekend (cancelled flight, some personal things going on, overall stress) and was so amazed by the above and beyond of the team. Silvie in concierge, Columbus at the reception, the late night guys (when my 9 pm pizza didn't show up until 11 pm) were just the best. I was traveling solo and felt safe and taken care of. Would absolutely come back here if I'm ever back in Marseille.

The hotel has an amazing view over the old port. Rooms are cozy, relatively quiet, and clean. More sound proofing from the floors above and the outside would be nice. The place is showing signs of age. It is very odd that you are looking at the pool from your room that you cannot use (the outdoor pool in all the pictures is only for Novotel guest use which is misleading. There is no swimming pool available in the hotel.). Rooftop bar is overpriced, overheated and unwelcoming.

Overall review point of 80/100 would have been much higer if some personnel were more professional in handling quest request! When I left my room(#636) 1 hour after check-in for stroll nearby and returned to enter the room by swiping entry card, a female staff came out of my room while my wife was sleeping alone inside. At first I thought I was miskaken the room number. Even if I said "Guess, this is my room' to her, she didn't say anything but to made a jesture to try swiping the card and left the scene. I reported this incident twice to the staff and night-time staff at the lobby check-in-counter and requested the explanation of entry to guest's room without ringing the bell or consent. I was really scared!!! She was definitely not a room-cleaning woman wearing white shirts who sometimes check bathroom linens and refrigerator stuffs. All I wanted was an explanation, but their attitude to my request was too casual and nonchalant. I even told the female check-in staff who helped my check-in procedure that I could report the accident to the police, she just replied " It will not happen again". Other than that accident, other staff members, especially concierge people were really helpful and kind.

Furthermore, I sincerely regret that the explanations provided when you reported the incident did not reflect the level of care and empathy that you were entitled to expect from us.
