On the plus side - the hotel is in a prime position overlooking the port, our room was spacious and comfortable - especially the bed, and the restaurant served excellent food. Most staff were welcoming and helpful, with excellent service in the restaurant. On the negative side - the room wi-fi was awful and on one day unusable. On one night we were woken by loud banging above our room (6401) at 11:30pm, which we learned the next day from staff, was probably the cleaners clearing up the rooftop restaurant above. When calling down to the reception at the time of the disturbance, we were offered earplugs! Also, the swimming pool was offered to local schools for children's swimming instruction. This is a lovely idea, which we would support; however, guests should be compensated, because at the time we wanted to relax and enjoy the pool, this was impossible.

We recently stayed at the Novotel Marseille and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and the staff were generally very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Melissa at the pool bar, who was always cheerful, attentive and provided excellent service. The only disappointing part of our stay involved an interaction with Eva. My two-year-old son and I wanted to sit at one of the terrace tables for a drink while my wife was getting ready, but we were told the tables were reserved and were directed to some high tables instead. It was obvious that a toddler could not comfortably or safely sit there. Fortunately, a gentleman who was already seated at a table kindly invited us to join him. What made the situation more frustrating was that the supposedly reserved tables remained empty for the entire time we were there. While I understand that tables may need to be reserved, I feel the situation could have been handled with a little more flexibility and understanding, particularly given that I was with a young child. Despite this minor issue, we had a great stay overall and would happily recommend the hotel. The friendliness of most of the staff, especially Melissa, helped make our visit a memorable one.
