I put up with the dirty carpet, the smell of damp and the poor heating, but last night was beyond bad. I have stayed in a number of Ibis Hotels and they are always impressive. I am amazed you continue to associate with this one. Issues: Smoking cannabis: I returned to the hotel after a day in the office and as soon as I drove into the car park, all I could smell was cannabis. It was everywhere, including in the room. Later in the evening it stank of cannabis in the bathroom, and I assume someone was smoking in their room. It wasn't just a light odour, it was really strong and suffocating. Tobacco smoke: People smoke on the balcony outside the rooms, and the smell comes into the rooms. It is disgusting and really affected my asthma. I asked the guy to smoke somewhere else, and he was rude and aggressive. Alarms: An alarm started going off about 10.30pm and didn't stop. I called reception and there was no answer. It stopped after about half an hour but it then started again at 3pm. Noise: There is no soundproofing or insulation to block out noise and smells, meaning it is impossible to get a good night's sleep. As well as the noise from the alarm and the smell of smoke, there were a number of drunk people walking around talking loudly, crying, playing loud music, etc

Arriving in the dark, you see only the lights of reception through a forbidding metal fence. Having driven around trying to find the entrance I stopped by the fence which turned out to be a sliding gate. There was no indication at the gate to wait there or that this was the entrance to the Ibis car park. Nor was there any information in the booking confirmation concerning access to the facility. The reception area is in a corner of what looks like a transport café - which I later realised was the "restaurant", another corner of which had a few couches, and a counter which acted as a bar. The whole area was very unwelcoming with bright lighting, red plastic covered chair at little square plastic "dining" tables. Having checked in, I was directed to a two story block of what could only be described as a run down motel. My room (152) relied on a single convector heater which failed to achieve a comfortable temperature and did not provide any heat to the bathroom. I had a wash but the water did not drain from the washbasin as there must have been a blockage. The carpets in the room were badly stained. Returning to the reception building, I ordered a glass of wine. The young lady did not seem to understand my simple request and sought aid from the man at reception. I then ordered a "ham and cheese toastie" from a very limited menu. The same young lady presumably prepared this and served it to me at the table - without any cutlery or serviette. The food was edible but even more unattractive than one might get in a transport café. Overall, I would not recommend anyone to this "hotel", and suggest that someone senior in ALL pays an incognito visit to validate my comments,

Secure gate entry and fencing looks a bit daunting as a first impression but easy access and plenty of free parking is welcome. Room was OK, comfy bed, nice bathroom but nasty carpet and bright light shines into room all night.

The hotel was extremely run down, unclean, and had to move 4 employees - the promised refund has still not been processed and no response from the hotel despite numerous attempts of contact.
