Tatty a bit of a let down

The room although clean was tatty and in need of some attention. The beds where awful I ended up taking the duvet from the other to lay on. The leisure facilities where nice. Restaurant only fit for a two night stay, menu very limited and uninspiring, things where unavailable for days. Ive stayed here before and the food was better quality and more of it. Ordered pie one evening with creamy mash and seasonal vegetable's. When i asked where the veg was as it was just Pie and mash "the veg is in the Pie" was the reply . I dont think ill bother staying here again sorry

Lovely stay, spotless rooms, could've had hot plates for the breakfast

Booked an accessible room for my elderly Mum - spotless, recently re-carpeted and the wet room was awesome for her. Second room for myself, partner and dog - again spotless but not as recently updated - hold in the wall and some dirty marks on the walls - toilet flush was not strong enough. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful courtyard garden but slight issues with ants that meant the patio was a bit uneven for an elderly woman with mobility issues. Breakfast was awesome, great selection and the waitress very attentive and polite despite us being sat in the bar due to the dog.. Only downsize was the plates were not heated for the hot items so they were cold by the time mum got back to her table. Excellent dog walks straight from the hotel and would definitely use again.

Great potential but too many rough edges and inconveniences. Below the usual Mercure standard that I have experienced many times as an Accor frequent user.. Reception insisted on taking payment in advance rather than simply authorising my credit card as is typical in any other hotel of this purported level. This was double annoying because I book through Accor direct who have my card on file. Bathroom smelled rank.... bad drains. When lightbulb in bathroom started flickering badly at 9.30pm they were unable to fix it because "Room maintenance has finished and the spares room is locked." Only solution was for them to remove the lightbulb - luckily there were two in bathroom so it was still usable although in "twilight". Bed was hard and uncomfortable. Pillows were barely describable as pillows - collapsing to 3 or 4cm when laid on. No light over the desk. There was also a period of half an hour between 10pm and 11pm when all the lights in the room would black out for a second before coming back on. This happened several times before they seemed to stabilise again. Much less comfortable overall than a Premier Inn (which also takes payment in advance :-) ) and more expensive. On the good side, breakfast was pretty good Not great, but pretty good. Also parking was free.

I guess to be fair, you get what you pay for and this isn't an expensive hotel. It's really a budget hotel living inside the building of what was once a more premium hotel. My room was tired and the pillows felt years old. The food at the bar (no restaurant despite what the website says) was not great, I sent cold food back and the bar service is slow as the processes are all geared for the hotel rather than the fast serving of customers. (Every receipt is printed, then stapled to the order by the only bar server and put in a large collection of pint glasses, very annoying to watch when you've been stood there for 5 mins waiting to be served) Best of all, when checking in, they gave me someone else's room, so I had the added surprise of another guest making their way into my room in the early evening... embarrassing for us both. However, I'll be back, as there isn't much choice in this locality. Put it this way, if Premier Inn ever open in Daventry, you'll never see me here again!

Stay was good . Nice hotel . How ever staff at reception is rude and cleaning of rooms and bathroom not up to the mark . Bathtub / bathroom floor was dirty sticky even after request it was not cleaned . Stained thin pillow . Its been almost a month did not refund my money that i paid at the bar for beverages. 90£ refund yet to come . Called once to reception he never came back with reply . Overall good location lovly park near by . Nice feel .

The first impression of the hotel was good. There was a long queue at the check in because there was an issue with a guest with an incorrect reservation which isn't the hotels fault. However whilst in the queue to check in with the one person at the desk I noticed there were 2 members of staff stood idle behind the bar. Could these be trained up to help out behind the check in desk at busy times? I got to the room and it smelt of sewerage. There were a lot of small flying insects in the room (possibly moths?) I suspect attracted by the smell. I realised the smell was from the drains in the bathroom so ran the taps for 10 minutes and the smell started to fade. Then I came across the next problem. The bathroom steamed up badly and wasn't clearing. I found this is due to the extractor fan being blocked. This is a potential health and safety concern? I thought the room was in poor state of repair for a 4 star hotel. The carpet had a big bare patch (looks like it had been eaten by moths), the window handle was broken, there was a large stain on the carpet and the furniture was scratched. I have photos of everything I have seen if you would like to look at them? My company quite often use Daventry hotels and I normally recommend Daventry Court to colleagues but I think I will go elsewhere in the future

The lady with the glasses & ponytail in the restaurant is not exactly friendly. She told us what wasn't available on the menu as her 1st approach to us! not Good Evening how are you all etc s not a good experience. The food was nice at evening meal & breakfast. Disappointed not jacuzzi but hey ho! The Reception staff were all friendly & helpful. Rooms could do with a lick of paint but a comfortable stay

Pleasant weekend stay

We chose this hotel as it was relatively close to Birmingham NEC, there are plenty of villages with great restaurants within 20 minute drive and to use up some loyalty points. We’re a bit concerned reading other reviews but then pleasantly surprised and happy with the experience. COVID measures were good, everything was clean and room was as expected. When we returned from a great dinner at the Butchers Arms in Priors Hardwick, there was a party in one of the main rooms but the bedrooms are sufficiently far away for this not to be a disturbance. Breakfast in morning was fine and no issues with parking

The hotel was cold all the time we stayed there, bar was shut until 3pm on the Saturday ,it was also understaffed ,our room was cold on arrival and stayed that way .i asked reception what was going on and answer was its someone else’s responsibility ? .

Turned up after driving for nearly 2hrs only to be told I'm not in the system so showed my reservation number even sent the confirmation to the front desk so they could look at it properly after an hr of faffing about they simply said your not in our system and we have no rooms . I wasn't the only one this happened to about 5 to 10 people had the same issue so I asked for a refund only to be told the Accor team were not in until Monday so I emailed there and then on Saturday the13th and still heard nothing luckily as there was an event that I was attending going on I managed to use someone's room to have a shower and get changed but definitely won't be going back.

Not on brand compared to other hotels. This is more Best Western than Mercure! No housekeeping between nights provided. Lights were out in my room and the corridors, they need to improve maintenance. They've half re-tiled the bathroom but left a grubby wall next to the bath with brown grouting. Orange mould and limescale blocking the shower head. According to website the car park is well lit, only 4 of about 30 lights were working. No lighting between car park and entrance which is an accident waiting to happen given the pot holes and trip hazards. Advertised as having a fitness centre and pool, neither of which have been open since the first lockdown I was told. These should be marked as closed on the website and nightly rates adjusted accordingly noting these facilities contribute to this supposedly being a 4* hotel. In summary, to stay as a Mercure brand, Accor need to show this hotel some love!
