Aleksandra made our stay really special. We had delicious snacks and drinks delivered to us constantly through the days. Aleks was a joy to speak to and get to know. We discussed life and all kinds of things. It made a real difference to our stay and I am so grateful.

Didn't get the type of rooms we had booked. Got Twin instead of Double. Clean room with comfortable bed and pillow. Noisy heating pipes for a while in the night. Good shower although the shower panel leaked and there was quite a lot of water over the bathroom floor. Liked that there was a heated towel rail although not good that it was located above the toilet. Not particularly a strong flush on the toilet. One light in bathroom wasn't working. The Reception staff need to be more smiley and engaged with the customer. Saying that they were helpful enough. Receptionist gave us an extra half hour check out time but failed to tell Housekeeping, as they knocked our door twice before our agreed check out time! Liked the breakfast area and the buffet breakfast was good. The bread for toast tasted cheap and not good quality. The coffee was disgusting and didn't taste good at all. The tea was not good either. Liked the spacious lobby and reception area.

Disappointing stay at a premium price

We had to stay with your for work purposes at the beginning of the GP weekend so accepted that the price was extraordinarily inflated. However, paying £250 for one room, for one night, with no air-conditioning, the smell of drains in the room (improved with the window open, did report the problem but got not help with it) soap provided but no hair conditioner and access to the gym/pool limited to once per day leaves a very bad taste and makes me feel utterly ripped off. Added to that, we were told that we couldn't take breakfast out of the dining room (I needed to get my son to work 45 minutes drive away for 6am) which was completely unacceptable, particularly given the extortionate rate I had paid. The lovely waitress did allow flexibility with this in the end, and also the one member of staff on the bar who could actually operate the pumps and the till was doing a stellar job and extremely stressed as none of the other members of staff seemed competent to help her at all. She was very stressed and doing an amazing job, solo, while others were only able to stand around watching. Equally, at check-in, when I asked for a second room key, I was given one with a sticker on it which read 'Daventry Court Hotel, Room 240' - how is this an okay thing to do? If I had lost that key (didn't take it out of the room in the end) it's a complete green light for the person finding it to help themselves to the contents of our room, surely this cannot be normal, acceptable standards? I've stayed in many Mercure Hotels and would have been happy with this one with a realistic price and service however, if you are charging a premium price, you should be delivering a premium service which was absolutely not the case on this occasion.
