Cancelled my flexible stay but they still charged me

I had booked 2 separate nights at this hotel and I had to cancel them several days before the stay date. I recieved my cancellation confirmation however this hotel still charged me. Now I have all the hassle and expense of proving I cancelled before getting MY money back. Postage these days is not inexpensive plus I have to waste my time, my paper, my printer ink. Just to get back my money which this hotel has taken for no reason. Not impressed.
