Smelly and dirty reception area

Hotel was well located, but on arrival it was clear it was a pretty rough place. Bloke in front of us checking in, with no luggage and clearly off his face nice. Hardly any residents staying as the car park only had about 6 cars, so they’d placed us all on the ground floor. No one wants to stay on the ground floor, especially as there are no card entry security doors so any Joe bloggs can be wandering about! As was made clear by the constant noise in the corridor outside our room most of the night with people coming and going and talking loudly until 4am! I nipped out of the room to get a glass of wine once we had dropped our bags, and was genuinely horrified by how filthy the carpet was in reception on the way to the bar. It clearly had not been hoovered recently! (As in at least a week!) it also stank. Overall it was pretty grim and I would absolutely not book again, and would make me question ever booking a Novotel again if that’s the standard they consider to be 4 star!

Carpet is old and dirty, walls have splatter marks on them, paint was cracked, old tv, paid for a superior premium room, was placed next to a cleaning cupboard, checked in after a late flight and was woken up to the cleaners stocking their trolleys for an hour and a half at 8am, creaking and slamming of cupboards causing me to get no sleep in the morning, which left me tired before my drive home, won’t stay here again, considering I paid over £100 for one night stay, it was shocking

Only stayed one night but everything was satisfactory, only thing was a smell in the bathroom of drains that I noticed in the morning.
