so close to central station you are practically there. many shops across the road, you don't need to go anywhere to get anything. 10 minute walk to market square or a few more to QVB.

Neat and tidy room, quiet, great having a pool in a city based hotel. The breakfast was great with lots of options. Close to public transport to get around the city. Affordable. Having access to parking on site is a plus. This was my second stay at this hotel as the first stay was a great experience we returned rather than looking for a different hotel.

I thought the lobby was subpar, definitely not to four-star standard. The decor and layout was more three star, and the bathrooms (which required a code) were abysmal. The room was comfortable but felt a bit tired, as did the restaurant on level 2. The hotel was also overrun with families and children, which is not ideal when you're on a business trip seeking downtime. There's nothing worse than finishing a long day, retreating to a pool or spa and having screaming children running around. Business trips require a level of comfort, which was not attained at Mercure Sydney. I ended up relocating to another four star that was just brilliant - the decor, the rooms, the bathrooms, the restaurant. It was so good I ended up inviting friends for cocktails and food at the bar, it was fantastic. This is what you expect from a four-star hotel. The contrast between Mercure Sydney and other four star hotels is as wide as an ocean.

Room was good, hallways and parking area smelt very funky Options for room service breakfast were very limited and a fee for room service is added on top, very frustrating. All I wanted was bacon, eggs and toast and had to pay for a massive breakfast which still wasn't what the picture or description indicated. No option for tea or coffee until the food was delivered. So much wastage due to so few options on the QR ordering.

Staff were friendly snd very accommodating. We arrived at 11:30pm, the receptionist was extremely friendly and also gave us an upgrade. Very appreciated after a 25+ hour flight.

We often stay at Mercur Sydney because it is well located, near Central Station and a short walk from China Town and Her Majesty's Theatre.

As platinum mebers we were upgraded to a privilege room. These rooms appear to be updated more recently, although seem smaller than some we have stayed in before. Comfortable enough, however the aircon is quite noisy. We were able to get by after turning it off. Although Eve's bar does not have much atmosphere the food is good and a bargain for Accor+Explorer members. Worthg noting there is a priority lane at breafast for Gold and above members.
