We were late booking Sydney for New Year and this hotel still wasn’t full so that should tell you something. Location is good for public transport but it’s in a section of George Street which is less than attractive. The stay itself was ok. Bedroom was nice enough and bed itself ok. I did get a memory foam pillow which was nice. The lifts are dreadful- so as our room was on the 14th floor we spent a lot of time waiting. Staff were fine, generally. I’ve stayed in many Mercures over the years and they are variable. This one is bag average but comfortable enough.

It was a pleasant stay but few issues on bedding that they still served ripped quilt. But they quickly replaced it upon request. Excellent location, breakfast, staff are friendly

Comfortable room ,clean ,quiet. Breakfast great,slightly more brightly lit dining room for breakfast would be good as a bit dim and dull for morning. Close to train station,great location.

Smooth checking in and allowable later check out to enable to do some morning sight seeing and shopping. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would appreciate they bring back the bottle of water for each guest upon arrival being accor members. Also being a gold member there were no differences other then being level 12

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in the Mercure Sydney Central. We have stayed many times in your hotel and have always had the best of service from your staff and always feel very well looked after. We did have a disappointment after we left we noticed on the bill we had been charged a gratuity of $22.10 for a dinner we had in Eves Bar. We didn’t authorise this I know that this automatic tipping now seems to be happening in restaurants in the cbd but at no time were we told that it would be added to the bill We also dined at your Platform 818 restaurant and this did not happen. We enjoyed our meals at both your restaurants but would have thought it would have been good manners to have been told of this. This has not put us off your hotel and will be staying again but may think twice about Eves bar. Thanks again
