We checked slightly early and the lady on reception was very accommodating, she got us checked in early and was able to get us on a high floor. The room was a good size for us. The toilet was comically small I am 6ft and my knees touched the wall, anyone taller would not be able to use it. The toilet was leaking and led to whole bathroom floor being constantly wet. The air conditioner was so noisy I thought there was construction going on elsewhere in the building, it wasn’t till the next morning I noticed it was the Aircon. The room itself was tired, there was a hole in the roof which was patched by a square of corflute and was dripping. There is a lack of convenient power points in the room and the only USB power is in the bedside lamps, the USBs stop working when the lamp is off.

1. Couldn’t check in when we initially arrived as ‘too many check-ins today’ and front of house unsure when it would be ready. 2. No housekeeping for our entire stay as it was over new years period. Was told we could ask for this service. When we did, we were told it was too late. 3. Socket was hanging out of the wall 4. Room was clean and tidy + decent location 5. Fire alarm at 1am required entire building evacuation (which is fair enough given safety requirements). However, the escape path was narrow and frequent stops due to overcrowding. Made us feel unsafe if there was a real emergency as any crowd / panic in the stairwell with smoke would have been deadly. After completion of fire alarm incident, the front of house staff did not provide any clear instructions to everyone waiting on the street but just said ‘it was a toaster’. We were left to make our own decision on when and whether it was safe to return to the room. Based on point 5 alone, we have provided a rating of 2 / 10. For the price paid (around $1900 for 3 nights), I would expected more from points 1-3 above and certainly for point 5.
