My stay at Mercure Arc de Triomphe Wagram was deeply disappointing and did not meet the standards I expect from the Accor brand. I booked this hotel in error due to the near-identical naming with Mercure Arc de Triomphe Étoile in the booking app, where the final word is truncated, making the distinction unclear. I contacted both customer support and the hotel immediately to request a transfer to another Accor property, but was told I would be forced to remain at a hotel I explicitly stated I did not want, despite my status and despite remaining within the Accor portfolio. The 2 towels and ONE robe provided were visibly worn, thin, and dingy, which reinforced the impression of cost-cutting and poor standards at a management level — les serviettes étaient ternes, usées, et loin d’être propres, a basic failure in hospitality that is not attributable to housekeeping staff. The room itself showed clear signs of insufficient deep cleaning and poor maintenance. The hair dryer cord was coated in visible dust and skin residue, the bathtub had long-standing calcium buildup and broken elements that made it feel unhygienic, and the shower fan contained black dust. These are management and maintenance failures, not housekeeping ones. The housekeeping staff themselves were kind and professional. This experience has fundamentally changed my trust in Mercure as a default choice in Paris and in Accor as a whole. Outside of a small number of flagship properties, this stay fell far below what I associate with a hospitality brand of this scale and reputation.

Additionally, please note that each hotel (whose names are clearly displayed in the application at the time of booking) operates independently; therefore, reservations cannot be transferred between properties. Regarding your room, we would like to assure you that all Accor standards are fully respected and we were therefore surprised to learn that you experienced issues during your stay. If you had you informed our reception team at any point during your six-day stay that you were not comfortable in your room, we would have been more than happy to offer you an alternative room. Overall ok, I love the location, nothing much stood out, nothing much that’s super horrible. Although, the toilet constantly has a strong smell from check in till check out.
