Disappointing. Very basic for a four star. Tiny room (319) and I was woken up at 5am with a really strong smell of baking which was unpleasant. Breakfast was not great. A few Staff nearby chatting who had ignored the fact much of the food had run out so there was a long wait to get this sorted. Very diy with drinks machines etc I’ll not stay here again.

We arrived to find that I had made a terrible error in the booking. I had booked the room for the prior night. The clerk said we had a reservation but it was for last night. He said he would take care of it and gave us a room for the night only charging for the difference. This type of excellent service will definitely bring me back to the Mercure chain. I’ve stayed in this chain years ago in Paris, the service was excellent then and it was again on this stay. Thanks you to the check in clerk.

There was an availability issue with the type of room we had booked, but the hotel did call us on the day to inform us of the problem and we had to take a slightly smaller room. For us not a big deal as it was only one night and we were anyway in holiday mode. On arrival we were informed that the hotel would grant us a complimentary breakfast for the inconvenience - nice touch and good customer service. But it got even better, as on departure the hotel would not charge us for our 2 parking spaces either. A beyond expectations customer service recovery. Aside from that location was top, with lovely restaurants just around the corner. Well done Team Mercure - Brilliant recovery and greatly appreciated.
