I've been to several Accor hotels, mostly ibis and Mercure brands, but the Mercure Strasbourg Centre Petite France was so far the best of them. I guess this depends not only on the brand but also quite a bit on the hotel manager. What's so great? It's the details. First, the hotel looks clean and fresh (I saw some well used Accor hotels in the past, this is the opposite of that). There is a screen right next to the receptionists that shows their names and which languages they are proficient in. The receptionists and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly. There's a free to use water dispenser next to the reception and you also get there free coffee or tea. Breakfast has every day changing food, and I also liked the machine for freshly pressed orange juice. Rooms are on the smaller side (14 square meters) but the interior is well organized and feels comfortable. The shower was clean as well as the whole bathroom. The window goes to the street right in front of the hotel. There is a big heater in the room, and it works well (it was around 5 degrees outside during our stay). There are only small things that could be improved. Both are in the bathroom. The fan there is very weak (but also silent), basically it has no effect. It would be nice if it would speed up when the light is turned on in the bathroom. And secondly, the water tap is placed weirdly close to the side of the sink, so the water stream from the tap almost touches the wall of the sink, and it's kinda hard to wash hands because there is so little space.

Great location, liked being between the main area for the Strasbourg Christmas markets and the train station. Room space felt a little tight even for 2 people, but was good enough. Liked the towel rack warmer, which was used to dry a few clothing items. Friendly customer service. Great drink selection, especially liked the chamomile tea. Liked that we could bring water to our rooms with the glass bottles in the lobby.
