I would expect a welcome drink(water or sparkling) in the room. Also the showers are really old. On the other hand location is perfect. We also liked the breakfast however was too crowded on the sunday.

We arrived late and I chose this hotel through the Accor app — it had good ratings and nothing indicated any issues with quality. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. Our first room had a bad smell and the carpets were filthy — stained and not even properly hoovered. We asked to move and were given another room, but it was very basic, with exposed cables coming out of the wall by the bed. There wasn’t even any water provided in the room. The restaurant/bar was also closed, so there was no option to buy anything to drink. Breakfast was acceptable, but very crowded and full of children. This is not the standard I would expect from a 4-star hotel. I would not recommend it to anyone travelling for business. At reception, I was told that this was “what I paid for” because it was the cheapest room, and that only executive rooms include water, which were sold out. If that is the case, this should be clearly communicated. The offer in the app appeared attractive, but there was no mention of these limitations.

We also apologize for the smell and condition of the carpet in your first room. Concerning the second bedroom, we understand your disappointment. The cables you mention are normally integrated and concealed in a channel at the headboard. We have already contacted our technical department to check this point and understand why this was visible. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Regarding water in the room, as was indicated to you at reception, only executive rooms are equipped with it, and this information is clearly specified in the description of our different categories. We are nevertheless sorry if this was not sufficiently clear at the time of your reservation. Concerning the restaurant and the bar, we actually offer opening hours allowing you to take full advantage of them, the bar being open until 11 p.m. each day. Outside of these hours, filtered water fountains are available so that our customers can refresh themselves at any time. We also understand that the presence of children may have impacted your experience. However, Novotel is a family-oriented brand where children are welcome. During school holidays, our family rooms – the majority in our establishments – are in high demand, which can actually lead to a large presence of children. Finally, regarding your remark about our receptionist, after verification, the employees present that day were wearing their regulatory uniforms, maintained in accordance with our standards. We are committed to the professionalism of our teams, and remain attentive to the quality of the welcome given to each of our customers. We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and hope to have the opportunity to offer you a better experience during your next stay. Room is old, worst was the noisy room. We couldn’t sleep due to heavy noise from a disco club nearby.

So many things to list on this stay that went wrong; firstly BOTH the rooms that we booked weren’t how we booked online and asked for with two separate beds (we booked this type of room for a reason) and did not get it even though we called beforehand and was assured it was all sorted. We arrived and the staff repeatedly just said they could not do anything so I had to take matters into my own hands just to sleep properly. Bed sheets had yellow stain (absolutely disgusting) I got stuck in the lift for over 5 minutes and doors did not open! Very unsafe and caused me serious claustrophobia and trauma. Still waiting to hear back what they’ll do to recompense such a terrible night. Stayed at Novotel and Accor hotels across the world - this has definitely been the worst ever and most sad thing is I have a future booking at this hotel and it’s non refundable. You know it’s sad when your whole family don’t look forward to staying in this hotel but can’t cancel.

The location is perfect for a stay in Strasbourg - and easy to access by car when using the parking facilities. The hotel is about 5 minutes' walk from the main Place Kleber, on a riverside location. We chose an "executive room", which was spacious, on a high floor, and with a comfortable bed. We wish we'd known that the odd-numbered rooms on the 8th floor are the ones with a view of the city though! We had an even-numbered room, and were a little disappointed with the view from the back of the building. Nespresso machine in the room was great, plus a kettle. But no milk was supplied, and all tea varieties were flavoured, rather than a basic black tea, which we would have preferred. Staff were generally courteous, and all spoke excellent English.
