As frequent travellers, particularly with the Accor group, we felt as though we did not belong at this hotel. We were there as tourists and we did not see any other guests who seemed to fit this category. Our room was very nice, but a long trek from the hotel exit. Our room supposedly came with a coffee kit, however when we tried to get milk to add to our drinks, we were charged €2.80 for a small glass. There is a lot of construction going on. The hotel is a short walk from a supermarket and restaurants and close to the Metro. We wouldn't really recommend the hotel if you're in Madrid as a tourist. Stay somewhere more central.

The hotel is in a great location. 2 mins walk from train station, which can also takes you to airport. Easy to get to central Madrid. The underground is pretty easy to use. Beautiful gardens next to the hotel, with parks for the children. 10 mins walk from shops and restaurants. We arrived very early and was offered early check in. Which was amazing as we had children. Hotel is clean and beds are very comfortable. Kettle for early morning or late night drinks. I personally love the fact that the rooms did NOT have carpets! Mini bar fridge, which was handy. Restaurant and bar conveniently located in the lobby. We could even watch our football games. Breakfast was lovely, with a variety of hot and cold foods. All staff from reception, kitchen and domestic are friendly. There were some unavoidable noise, due to building and reconstruction, however this only means they are upgrading.

It was noisy and busy with construction. Did not get complimentary water in my room.

Upon check in we noticed many groups of young patrons around the hotels common areas. Many were dressed in festival/dance cloths and already making plenty of noise. We brought our concerns of getting a good nights sleep up with the front desk who told us there was no concern as these groups were on a different floors. A few hours later (9pm) we made our 1st of 3 complaints as we had over 50 of these party people in the courtyard near the pools of the 1st floor (other side of our rooms window) making all types of noise and drama. The smell of Marijuana was strong and a portable speaker was in use. We reported all this in person to reception who apologized and said they would move these people on. Another hour passed and the noise only seemed to increase. I called reception and asked what was going on, again an apology and a promise that something would be done. Our children were upset and scared by this point due to some aggressive screaming in the hallway so we moved them to the furthest of the 3 rooms our group had on our booking. Another 30min past and again I called reception and AGAIN I was told they were looking in to it. At 11:30pm I attempted to again call reception but the phone call was not answered. This happened another 2 times. My wife and I gave up on the hotel doing anything about the problem and used ear plugs to try and get some sleep. The noise subsided at about 2am, so we got about 2 hours of decent sleep before waking up for our airport transfer. I have had some bad hotel stays over the years but this had to be the worst in terms of hotel management response. As far as we could see, nothing was done and we were completely ignored by staff and management.

However, we regret that, despite our efforts, the situation was not resolved as effectively or as promptly as it should have been. We truly regret the impact this had on your stay, especially on your children, and this is certainly not the experience we wish to offer. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to welcome you again and provide you with the peaceful and comfortable stay you expected. Novotel Team
