Location, cleanliness were perfect. We had issues with the hot water & shower pressure. We reported them. A concern was that the spiral staircase to the live area, where the sofa bed & lounge area wasn't noted. The staircase could have presented problems with children & anyone with mobility issues.

Dear S., Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you found our location and cleanliness to your satisfaction. However, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the hot water and shower pressure issues. Your report is valuable to us, and we will take it under consideration. We also appreciate your comments regarding the accessibility of the spiral staircase, and we will ensure this information is communicated clearly to future guests. Best regards, Ibis Melbourne - Hotel & Apartments

I have stayed in a lot of ibis hotels and this one is up there on the worst. The bathroom was disgusting, the shower has mould and dirt throughout. The air conditioner didn’t work at all and is probably full of mould- it made us sick. The bed was like sleeping on the ground and the pillows were too. The only saving grace was the buffet. Which wasn’t great but wasn’t horrible

The hotel is in a good location , but could do with a bit of freshening up . Carpets in halls and near lifts were dirty and worn . Breakfast was not the best , bread options what seemed value brands . Mushrooms were dried out and bacon was cold , the scrambled eggs tasted sweet and overall cold ( I would not recommend having breakfast .)

Dear Dawn, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay. We appreciate your comments about our location; however, I regret to learn that certain aspects of your experience did not meet your expectations. Your observations about the condition of the carpets and the breakfast quality have been duly noted. Thank you once again for your input. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Kind regards, Ibis Melbourne - Hotel & Apartments

Antony S. Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

I've stayed at ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments on Therry Street four times now, and as an ALL Platinum member, I have consistently been upgraded to a 2-Bedroom Apartment, which I'm genuinely grateful for. The excellent location and spacious apartment layout are the main reasons I keep coming back to this hotel. Most of my previous stays were short business trips of 3–4 nights, so I never really noticed some of the hotel's shortcomings. However, during this visit, my wife and I stayed for 10 nights, and the longer stay highlighted several issues. First, the amenities and toiletries situation was disappointing. I understand that some amenities are only available upon request, which is perfectly fine. However, after making two separate trips to the lobby, I was told there were no sewing kits available, only one shower cap, and only two toothbrushes. (Despite our booking being for three guests) For a 10-night stay, my wife had to reuse the same shower cap throughout the entire trip. It felt strange that a hotel would not have basic toiletries adequately stocked. Second, the Wi-Fi in Room 1102 was extremely poor. There was barely any connection inside the bedrooms, and even in the living room I could only get one signal bar. During our 10-night stay, I ended up purchasing an additional 30GB of mobile data just to stay connected. Under normal circumstances, 10GB would have been more than enough if the hotel Wi-Fi had been functioning properly. When I reported the issue, the staff informed me that this is the first time they got a complain about WIFI (like really?) and that the technician responsible for the system was outsourced, so a quick fix was not possible. The only solution offered was to move rooms, which I declined as it was already our third night and we had fully settled in. The most frustrating issue, however, was housekeeping. On our third day, we placed the housekeeping sign on the door, expecting the room to be serviced. When nobody came, I called reception and was informed that guests must personally call before noon to request cleaning, regardless of the sign. I followed those instructions the next day, but the room was still not cleaned. When I called again, I was told that a "Do Not Disturb" sign had been displayed, which was simply not true. As a result, we had to wait yet another day for housekeeping. In total, we went five nights without a room clean, with rubbish piling up and basic housekeeping not being performed. Strangely, 2 days later, housekeeping cleaned the room without us making any request at all. The inconsistent explanations were frustrating and left us frustrated Another area that could use improvement is the breakfast. Since we stayed for 10 nights, the lack of variety became very noticeable. By the fourth day, I had already given up on having breakfast at the hotel because the menu was virtually identical every morning. The only noticeable changes seemed to be rotating a single item, such as baked beans, mushrooms, or baked tomatoes, while everything else remained exactly the same. The core selection never changed: chicken sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants, pancakes, and a few standard accompaniments. After several consecutive mornings, I could practically recite the entire breakfast menu from memory. Despite these issues, I still believe the hotel's biggest strength is its location. It is conveniently located near QV, which offers some of the cheapest parking options in the CBD, and there are plenty of trams, buses, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. The apartment size is also excellent, especially for longer stays. I understand this is a 3-star hotel, and I am not expecting luxury-level service. However, as part of the Accor group, I do expect a certain minimum standard of consistency and basic guest services. I don’t believe I was asking for anything unreasonable—reliable Wi-Fi, adequate toiletries for the number of registered guests, regular housekeeping, and a breakfast menu that offers some variation during a 10-night stay should be fairly basic expectations. I genuinely enjoy staying at this property and have chosen it four times for a reason. I sincerely hope management takes these issues seriously and makes improvements, because with its fantastic location and spacious apartments, this hotel has the potential to be much better than the experience we had during this stay. Overall, ibis Melbourne Hotel & Apartments Therry Street remains a great choice for short business trips and offers outstanding value thanks to its location and spacious rooms. However, for stays longer than a few nights, issues such as housekeeping, Wi-Fi reliability, and lack of basic amenities can become increasingly frustrating and may significantly affect the overall experience.

Dear Antony S., Thank you for your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at ibis Melbourne - Hotel & Apartments. We are pleased to hear that you appreciate our excellent location and spacious apartments, which have contributed to your return visits. However, I am sorry to learn that your longer stay highlighted several areas for improvement. We strive to maintain a consistent level of service and I regret that the amenities and toiletries provided did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the availability of items for the number of guests registered. Your comments about Wi-Fi connectivity and the housekeeping service have been noted, and I understand how important these aspects are for our guests' comfort. Our policy is to offer cleaning services upon request, and I apologise for the confusion you experienced we will address this internally to ensure clarity moving forward. Lastly, I appreciate your input on the breakfast variety, and I will pass this along to our culinary team for consideration. We value your loyalty and hope to enhance your experience in the future. Best regards, ibis Melbourne - Hotel & Apartments

Very disappointed with this hotel stay. The rooms are extremely dated, dark, and poorly maintained. The ceiling and bathroom tiles were cracked, the carpet smelled bad, and there wasn’t even a power outlet near the bed. I also could not connect to the WiFi during my stay. Large bus tour groups checked in at the same time, making the hotel feel crowded and noisy. Breakfast was low quality and unhealthy — greasy hash browns, sausages, bacon, watery scrambled eggs with no taste, plus basic watermelon and cantaloupe. Definitely not worth it. To make things worse, checkout is already early at 11 AM, and the manager charged an extra $40 for just a 2-hour late checkout. Overall, a frustrating and overpriced experience. I would not stay here again.
