Don’t be fooled by the Mercure name! It’s not a hotel that aligns with Accor or Mercure standards. Check in was smooth which I think was the only positive part of the stay Room was dated and full of scratches on the walls! TV did not work Aircon was noisy but cold Shower was hot but covered in mould on the walls and quite dark the shower cubicle Room light kept flickering Bed was hard and pillows way too soft No checkout staff at 7.50am just a security guy that looks funny at you Room was clean Overall this hotel needs a lot of TLC Location was good and central

Good location but getting dated

Morroyce Families - TripAdvisor review

This is the second time we have stayed here, however this time we had a child and I think this will be the last time we stay here. The room is dating, for a Mercure the TV was tiny and didn't receive all free to air channels. The air con was old and struggled in the summer heat, even when it dropped to 23c outside the aircon still has to be on 19c or lower to keep the room at an ok temperature. Shower is dark but water pressure was nice. Room was clean. But I didn't feel as safe in the room as other hotels I've stayed in. No opportunity to lock our door from the inside and no peep hole made me feel a bit uneasy. Great location, and was great when we were traveling only as a couple. But I think next time we will look for something better.

Sorry, but I can't recommend somewhere I don't wait to stay again myself...

Not the best of hotels I've ever stayed in. The room had patches of paint work in a different colour that it should have, the tv didn't really work properly and the last night it wouldn't turn on, the cleanliness of the room was really good - hats off to your Housekeeping Dept, you also need reception staff that can speak english properly as when I arrived on the Thursday I had to kept asking the guy to repeat himself. Overall, I would never be able to rate it higher than a 5 out 10.

Very disappointing

This property is not up to the usual standards of Mercure or Accor. We chose it for its close proximity to Royal Melbourne and supposed cooking facilities. The room had a lot of wear and tear with scuffed and chipped walls. The kitchen facilities were terrible. The hob took forever to heat, the crockery and utensils were very limited and there was only 1 plate in a room for 2. The fridge was faulty and ruined all the food we bought. Everything was frozen solid. We turned it down to the lowest setting and new items still froze. The rooms are not sealed properly, the stench of burnt garlic from another room nearly knocked us out. There’s no onsite facilities. Their restaurant has closed down (no mention of that when we booked). The bed was rock hard. Will never stay here again.

Don't Get Fooled by the Mercure Name!

This hotel was well priced for our stay, (compared to other Melbourne downtown options). However, the hotel has a number of issues, which travellers should be aware of. Firstly, it is some distance (about 2 kms) from Southern Cross Station, - the departure point for the Skybus to the airport and local trains services. The downtown tram network is not really convenient for this hotel. Secondly, the reception area looks like a backpacker inn, with very limited hours and locked up (grill down) for most of the night. Certainly not what you would expect from a Mercure hotel. Thirdly, the hotel demands a significant security deposit, (even for prepaid guests) when really there is nothing in the room other than forks and a plate, that could be stolen. Disappointing. Fourthly, it was quiet cold night during my visit in late July 2023. Unfortunately, the reverse cycle air-conditioning (heating) did not work. Someone came from the reception to fix it - no luck!. They did give a portable mini heater, which was OK, but not adequate for the room. The wifi network was not reliable, so using the bluetooth function on your phone was necessary. Again this hotel is relatively inexpensive, and therefore you must have low expectations. Don't get fooled by the Mercure Name!
