Check-in & Room Readiness: Although I had pre-informed the hotel of my early arrival, my room was ready extremely late. While I understand that early check-in is subject to availability, the extended wait time was frustrating. Housekeeping Credit Miscalculation: Upon check-in, I was informed that by opting out of daily housekeeping, I would receive a $10 credit per day. During my 6-night stay, my room was cleaned only once. Therefore, I expected a $50 credit, yet I was only granted $20 at checkout. Lack of Communication & Benefits: I utilized the Lounge service and breakfast once each. At no point was I informed that I could not use my Accor points to settle these charges. Furthermore, no member discounts were applied to these services, and the staff failed to provide any clarity on this during my stay or at checkout.

Check in was slow even though I did online check in to make it quick. I had booked 3 rooms for my family for a couple of nights and could only order room service online from one room. Staff were not particularly friendly. Checkout was reasonably quick. However, upon checking my account the following day, I realised I had been charged double. I then received another email which was not personally addressed to me stating that more money had been withdrawn from my account. Upon reading this, I called to find out I had been charged for the mini bar - which we had not consumed. At least they refunded that. I asked for the doubled charge to be removed and was told it would take up to 10 days. I had to call my bank to do this. Unfortunately, I experienced a similar issue with the Mecure a couple of months ago, being charged twice for my accommodaton.

It was a really short stay only as it was just one night. But it was a very pleasant one in any case. Upon checkin, I asked for a rather late checkout the next day. While the receptionist at the time could not arrange that, she recommended to check again the next morning. The next morning however just before I left the hotel, the room phone rang and they told me the late checkout had been arranged. And it’s this kind of small details I appreciate. Obviously they’ve made a note of my request and the arrangement had been made. The room I got was spacious and well designed, with plenty of natural light. While it didn’t bother me, the bathrooms are fairly small. A bit more detail to cleaning could be observed, as from somewhere a used band-aid appeared on the floor as well as a fake eyelash - so vacuuming wasn’t quite done right. Overall a pleasant stay and I probably would stay here again next time I’m in Melbourne, as the hotel is in the middle of Chinatown so has everything you need close by.
