I recently stayed at Pullman Melbourne City Centre and was extremely disappointed with both the service and the way legitimate billing concerns were handled after checkout.
I paid extra for a high-floor room, yet was placed on Level 6 despite the hotel’s higher-floor category being advertised above that. I then had to chase the hotel after checkout to have the charge addressed.
The parking issue was worse. At check-in, staff were fully aware that I had handed my keys over for valet parking. I was checking in alongside another guest whose booking included parking, and we were specifically told that the first two nights would be allocated to that booking and that I would only be charged for the final night.
That is what I relied on.
After checkout, the hotel changed the story and effectively told me that not understanding the distinction between the parking options was my problem, despite the fact that their own staff had explained the arrangement to us at check-in.
They then advised that the $65 refund they had processed was for the high-floor issue, even though the receipt lists it as valet parking, and apparently the additional $5 above the $60 upgrade charge was their gesture for the inconvenience.
Frankly, that response sums up the experience.
The issue was never about trying to avoid paying legitimate charges. It was about staff giving clear information at check-in, the hotel subsequently charging contrary to that information, and then refusing to take responsibility for what their own staff had told us.
What makes it more disappointing is that I have previously had enough confidence in the Pullman brand to use a Pullman property for my wedding and personally spent around $20,000 on accommodation for our guests.
After this experience, that confidence is gone.
Poor communication, inconsistent information, disappointing service and an extremely petty approach to resolving what should have been a straightforward customer service issue.

The room was clean and adequate. The outlook was ugly building rooftops. Was located well for eating in Chinatown. Parking to get suitcases out of car was difficult at check in, check out. Staff were accommodating. Breakfast was nice. The roof top bar was a little disappointing.

Upon arrival I was very disappointed with my initial engagement with the staff at the check in desk. I had tried many times in the days leading up to my arrival to phone the hotel to discuss my booking. Each time I phoned the call was unanswered and I was diverted to another hotel or the staff who answered were completely unhelpful and unsympathetic. Unsurprisingly this attitude continued when I first arrived and met "Djaner" I paid almost $2000.00 to stay 3 nights sleeping on a rock hard bed while being constantly told by "Djaner" that I had been provided with an upgrade. Each time I spoke to "Djaner" I tempted to explain that an upgrade had NOT been provided and that I was getting the room that I had booked and paid for. When I started my initial booking I paid separately for the breakfast each day in the restaurant, because the website was deliberately confusing as to what was provided in the Lounge for breakfast with the Premium Deluxe Room, Loung Access, High Floor, City View. In conclusion if it was a choice between staying at the Pullman or sleeping under a bridge I would have to seriously consider the bridge.

Hotel location was great with tram stop right opposite entrance.
Our room maintenance was disappointing with chipped paint work on the towel shelf and the window frame had rubber tape hanging loose and dirty. Our room was not cleaned till after 3pm one day after I spoke to reception it was done immediately!
The lounge was a pleasure to visit, but think you need more staff in the weekend.
Your prior check-in is a good idea and only wish you could change the options after viewing your room.

Unfortunately, when an accessible room is booked, we are unable to move the guest to another room, as we only have three accessible rooms at the hotel and need to ensure they remain available for guests who genuinely require these facilities. We do try to be transparent about this policy by including this information on our website at the time of booking and when guest choose this room type. Clean comfortable room. No sparkling water from dispenser as indicated there would be and no Earl Grey tea in room even when asking for it. They don’t stock it apparently! Needed to be quick in club lounge to get anything other than hot food.

Having had a wonderful stay at the Pullman in Auckland before covid hit, we were looking forward to relaxing at the Pullman City Centre Melbourne to wind down our Aussie Holiday. As Accor All members we were looking forward to taking advantage of the membership priviledges .. eg 30% off meals etc.
Sadly, there was no lounge or places to relax, except our rooms unless we paid an extra $100 a day for the privilege.
Also the restaraunts at the hotel were closed except for breakfast on Sunday and Monday and ordering room service, the only food on site when we arrived 8pm Sunday, carried an extra chargeof $10 delivery .. so much for 30% off meals.
Any staff we did ask for help were lovely and helped, but more help on arrival would be good. Everything is down to scanning a code .. no printed menus of their own restaraunts or those nearby. It would also be nice if they had offered a map of the area around on check in.
The meals we had in their restaraunts on the Tuesday and Wednesday were lovely, as were those we found down China Town. Just a shame we had to "go out" for food etc when we had planned to relax. Hotel appears to be set up for people requiring a room just to sleep in/ business clients .. unless a member of their "executive club" it is not a hotel for you to relax in. We were lucky in that I had booked a room with a seating area so we did at least have somewhere to sit.
A big plus was the location, very close to a lot of shopping, China Town, the trams etc

Service great in Club lounge. Needed ice for an injury and waited over an hour then had to ring again to ask for it

Aa a business traveller staying 3 nights and assigned a room next to a young family spread across 3 rooms, the noise of slamming doors and children playing until midnight and tgst was after I requested another room. Single business travellers should be considered.
