Fresh facilities that were a little bit too much about form over function

Modern hotel in a great location. It was a girls weekend and we loved the rooftop restaurant, however, both times we went upstairs to the bar we were turned away due to it being at capacity. It would have been good to know when we checked in that we should book a table ahead. One of the rooms was faulty with lights turning on during the night every hour. The front reception did not care and was not sympathetic as to how scary that was thinking someone was in your room when the lights turned on at 2am in the morning.

Great location and unique styling which is appreciated. Slight delay in checking with the room not ready until 4.20pm. Reception team member provided a couple drink vouchers which was appreciated.

I'm not sure if Hyde Melbourne Place is still going through teething issues since opening last year but since my first/previous stay in December, things came off a little sad. No free snacks anymore, welcome gift was the tiny chocolate bar that used to be free daily. Housekeeping missed things daily and requests put on my file were either ignored or taken to the extreme. Such as wanting the quilt left untucked from the bed... 3 nights I had everything including the bed sheet untucked, 2 nights they ignored it and tucked everything. Requested no sparkling water in mini fridge which kept appearing every time I took the still out. Milk... First 2 nights, replenished and then never again for the rest of the week. Another negative, compared to other hotel breakfasts which are buffets, the set menu at Cleo while delicious is quite boring by day 5. Also servings varied, sometimes there was a lot of side, hardly any side, a half piece of toast rather than full. It was odd but the wait staff were brilliant. Also the beds. I don't remember them being so hard last stay. There's absolutely no give. Lighting wise - please give your rooms a decent big light. I don't want to have to open the blinds while doing makeup or getting dressed just to see how I look. It's dreary. Positives - your reception staff are delightful. Charming, kind and always up for a chat. The two gentlemen, one works morning shift, the other afternoon shift and they're usually at the desk closest to the lifts were attentive, remembered me, kind and always had something nice to say or a relevant question. They're some of the best reception staff I've met. Location was super handy as I had an event at rydges around the corner but wanted the Accor perks. And your wait staff in Cleo are wonderful, kind and very good at their jobs. The coffee was also great too (had some atrocious coffee at the event I went to at rydges).

it was well located and the staff was lovely but the bath tub was in an inconvenient place and we could hear everything outside so we don’t think the room was sound proof
