Was a little concerned having read reviews, but the neighbourhood is absolutely fine - people were friendly, and it is not nearly as bad as other reviewers had made out. Shops and eateries nearby, and the staff at the hotel are excellent - especially the staff member sorting the breakfast (very efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble). Our cleaner on the 5th floor was also excellent. Rooms are tight, but if you want to bring your cat to swing around, book a suite elsewhere…we are two tall people, and I am not the slimmest, and we coped - don’t listen to the whingers - this is a great value hotel.

Great hotel close to the train station. Downside of our room were the following, quite a bit of mould on the ceiling and tiles in the bathroom. Bathroom needs a fan installed to better deal with the steam front he shower. Our air conditioner in the room was not working well. Would wake up sweaty in the night and the air conditioner was on. The door to our room needed a good hard push to close it or it could be pushed open from the outside. We rented two room, one for my husband and I and another for our teenagers. Our teenagers room air conditioner worked great. You could tell the hotel had just dealt with the mould in their bathroom as there was new plaster on the ceiling and the painters tape was still on the wall.

Good location, close to the central train station, although the surrounding area is not very tourist-friendly. The bed was comfortable, but both the room and the bathroom were very small. We experienced an issue with a clogged shower drain upon arrival, but the staff handled it promptly and provided excellent service. The breakfast area was quite cramped and accessing the food was not very convenient. In addition, the selection was limited for the price charged, with some basic items missing, such as scrambled eggs.

Key system did not work and I had to get someone from front desk to come up with me to let me in my room until the evening of my second night…Coffee maker did not work the first morning for breakfast…the instant coffee was not good…cold croissants could have been better. Room was nice, front desk clerks were calm and friendly.

Hotel is a short walk from the train station, along a street with a couple of night clubs, several restaurants and pubs. The room we stayed in was very quiet despite the surrounding noise. Very comfortable beds. Water available at the lobby for refill daily. A comfortable stay overall.

The hotel itself was clean, quiet, and safe- but just walking the street it's on is unsafe. The Gare district is known as the drug area and we saw multiple drug exchanges, a ton of very creepy people, someone running with a stolen purse, etc. People stared at our children as we walked by, just very unsettling area.
