Great stay in a well located hotel

We were warmly greeted on arrival and that set the tone for the stay! The bedrooms and en-suite shower rooms are compact and basic but well-equipped and clean, beds are comfortable. The breakfast - buffet style in the breakfast room - is particularly good, with decent cheeses, freshly squeezed orange juice, nice breads, yoghurts and the facility to boil eggs! Throughout our stay all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The hotel is also very well located, just behind the main shopping streets of the town. Excellent.

What was a good Ibis small hotel in La Rochelle ruined.

You have to be joking! This used to be a good hotel. We’ve stayed here a few times in the past. Since the Ibis owners turned their hotels over to franchise owners they’ve gone downhill. Here it seems they sought advice from a French battery chicken farmer and split the rooms in half. If your luggage is bigger than a small backpack forget it. Scruffy paintwork adds to the insult. You can barely get round the bed. Shame on the previous Ibis owners for doing this. They’ve ruined the brand.
