Easy quick walk from La Rochelle station. La Rochelle old town is not a big place so it's really easy to walk to all the interesting places to see and the old town itself. The free mini bus goes past the hotel if you want to jump on for a circuit.

Friendly welcome and easy check in at reception. The hotel has been renovated since our last visit..it is tastefully furnished and comfortable. It's a fantastic location for walking everywhere in La Rochelle. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be visiting again!

Every staff member was very cheerful, pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast and the drinks given in exchange for declining towel service. The room was clean and quiet with a view of the courtyard. Location was perfect with a short walk to/from the train station and next to the lively old port around where we enjoyed most of our meals. Looking forward to returning to La Rochelle and the ibis Old Port. Merci beaucoup!

Unfortunately I booked for the wrong month and persuaded that all was well I was looking forward to our stay for 2 nights and 2 rooms with breakfast added. So sure we were going that I didn’t bother with insurance. So I lost a lot of money. I understand the rules, but feel there could be flexibility with transferring some of the money paid to the booking I intended. I am not asking for a full refund as I am not entitled to It, but had I been offered 50% to come at the right dates (there were rooms still available) I would have come. As it is, although I have stayed often at Ibis hotels all over the countries, I am disappointed of the rigidity of its rules. Everyone can make mistakes…

The Ibis is ideally located in the old port area just a few minutes walk from the shops and restaurants. The public areas of the hotel are lovely with a bright, comfortable lounge and an enclosed terrace where you can relax in the afternoons. Staff were lovely and the breakfast was great. The only area that could be improved was the room itself, the air conditioning hadn't been switched on as the hotel was still in 'winter mode' although it was hot during the day and still warm at night. The bedding was poor quality with thin, lumpy pillows and rough sheets with a crunchy mattress protector so we didn't sleep brilliantly.
