The staff were welcoming and the bar staff particularly good . We have stayed here several times but this time was not the best experience . 1. Car parking - I see this is now run privately and is much more expensive than our last stay. Having done some research I can see there are cheaper options for parking in Sheffield so I would certainly consider a different hotel next time . 2. Issues with our room - a) the safe was left in the locked position b) the plug got stuck in the basin c) the door would not lock from the inside so the room did not feel secure .. d) when we arrived back on Sunday16th around 3.30pm our room still had not been cleaned despite the fact the hotel was not full .The receptionist asked for it to be done as a priority but it was not complete until 4.30pm which meant we could not relax and change as we wished to do. a) and b) were promptly assessed and fixed when we raised them after our first night . c) could not be fixed during our stay . This was not communicated to us so when we arrived back late on the second night we were too tired to go back down to reception. When I raised this the following day a change of room was offered but by this time it was late afternoon and we only had one night left so didn't bother . I feel that the hotel should have contacted us as soon as it became obvious that it could not be fixed early on day 2 ( they had my mobile) to give us the option of coming back early and changing rooms. It's a good hotel in a prime location but we did not enjoy a relaxing stay.
