Needs an urgent refurbishment

Rooms don't meet the standard of a 4 star hotel, very dated and in need of urgent refurbishment especially the bathrooms. TV was out of date with no streaming apps available. Breakfast offering was poor- some days croissants were available but others they weren't for example. The team were slow to replace missing items at breakfast. Breakfast staff unfriendly and slow to clear the tables. As a family of 5 we had to sit at separate tables due to staff inability to seat guests correctly- 3 people sitting at a table for 6. Bar was not well stocked, out of lime on one occasion. Payment for the car park was excessive. Swimming pool was not open when we arrived, a problem with the chemicals. The lift was also broken on arrival.

Overall was fine. Received an upgraded room because of the miscommunication between the staff and management. Definitely was better than the other room and appreciated the little touches like water, coffee machine, robes and sleepers. Wasn't very nice to find out that there was only one big and one small towel for occupancy of 2 people. Access to the pool was complicated, needed an extra card to be able to use it. Sauna was out of order, one thing that made me book that particular place. Had a dinner at the restaurant, was pleasant and quiet experience, food was delicious.

Check-in was quick and my room was available ahead of the advertised check-in time. Good start. Gains a mark. The room was clean and tidy, with a good supply of tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Better than expected. No bath (I thought the room would have one), and no dressing gown. I saw other guests wearing them to the pool. Dropped a mark there No USB sockets. That surprised me. I had to go out and buy an adapter. Dropped another mark there. There's an aircon control in the room but I don't believe it was working. I turned it fully in both directions but there was no difference. Dropped a mark there. Breakfast was excellent. Help yourself buffet, with plenty of hot and cold choices. One criticism, there's only one coffee machine for a lot of covers. Bonus mark. There's a pool, which I had planned to use, but it's only accessible through the main reception area, the pool is much smaller than the pictures suggest, and without a dressing gown, it wasn't an option. Dropped a mark there. The room was serviced every day, which you can opt out of, and I would happily have done without, but then the teas and coffees wouldn't be topped up. Could be improved
