The hotel is located in a decent location, the bed was comfortable and the staff were very kind and friendly. My disappointments are: the tiles in the bathroom around the hot and cold water faucets in the shower were clearly coming off the wall, enabling water to go inside. Water inside = moisture and fungus = not healthy. Plus, around the same tiles it was dirty looking. The food was a big disappointment. The breakfast was overloaded with carbs, a nice hard boiled egg would have been nice to get some protein. The dinners ("plats") were disappointing because they were very small and still not cheap at 15euros. And a small glass of wine is 8euros! And for this price remember that we have to go and pick up our own food. Finally, it was not possible to get cool fresh air into the room. If you opened the window, the noise from loud trucks at 4am was very disturbing. Why no airco?

Staff very helpful and adhering to Covid-19 rules. Hotel was clean with all necessary means to keep Covid at bay! Meals, ie dinner/breakfast were taken in room. We had to collect dinner when telephoned by staff but breakfast was delivered to room at specified time. It was all very efficient and friendly. Would recommend hotel to friends for visit to Bordeaux as its very central for walking to City Centre and commerce. Obviously even more so in non-Covid times. Our second stay at hotel for visits to Prefecture which is 3 min. walk away.

The staff were all very helpful and polite. The hotel was clean and well organised. The only adverse (a little) comment is that the Courtesy pack was somewhat lacking with really only enough items for one person, ie one teabag, one packet of each of the 2 types of coffee, etc. The choice of teas was unusual to say the least. However, Reception were excellent and provided the extra tea, coffee and milk without any problems. Breakfast was confined to the room but was adequate and a reasonable choice of items -not as good as the normal buffet but in the Covid circumstances it was sufficient.

A very disappointing start. Arrived to be told the half board package I’d booked on the Accor website wasn’t available and this despite having rung the hotel up 4 days previously just before validating the reservation, to check the package was available. The young receptionist I spoke to on the phone was far from helpful, it must be said. She did however confirm half board was available. We’d even cancelled a previous reservation in the Burdigala hotel opposite, because of the half board option at the Mercure. Luckily the young man on reception when we arrived was far pleasanter than the girl I’d had on the phone earlier in the week. He called us later in the day to say they would honour the half board package. We even got offered a bottle of Evian to make up for the disruption.......... To be honest, I don’t go to Mercure hotels to go through this. I will think twice before returning to Mercure We also generally found the level of service lower than expected at such a hotel. No effort to propose a bottle of wine with the meal, masks not work when bringing the breakfast up to the room (the first morning the waiter brought the tray into the bedroom, no mask, the second morning a different waiter told us she couldn’t enter the room, still no mask), nor when speaking to us at the reception most of the time, whether being the perspex screen or not, shower gel bottle empty in the bathroom upon arrival..... To be honest, the only really positive point was the location of the hotel and the room was comfortable.
