Process of billing is not good. Credit card details was provided on day 1 of check in. However, the stay amount was debited from my credit card without my consent and request. The amount should have been debited by asking me and / or with my permission.

I am putting this sentence here since I don't think you would want this information on your platforms: Staff was welcoming, helpful to bring a positive experience, but the room has huge deficits that was a great disappointment as it did not correspond with the quality I have associated with Mercure. The room had severe electrical issues -sparks coming from the main light switch at the entrance to the room; noises & flickering of lights in the room (bathroom & lights by bed), etc. The toilet (underneath the rim) looks as it had not been cleaned in months - there was black crust across most of it. I even tried to clean it myself with the toilet brush but that wasn't sufficient.

Check in was quite weird, you are a bit forced to speak in french and while travelling through work is always strange to have to yield your personal credit card... not very common this days

Our stay was good. The hotel was located in the centre of the city, but we received an accessible room, which was really not ideal. You would think that, given my status with Accor, the front desk agent would take some additional time to place us in a comfortable room. I don't think the hotel was full either, so there would have been a possibility to do that. Also, there was onl one towel in the room for two guests and the air conditioner did not work. Additionally, I am more concerned that with Accor in Europe, status does not seem to mean anything compared to Marriott or Hilton, where even as a silver member, staff take the extra time to ensure a comfortable stay.
