Hotel getting old, sub standard service

The overall touch and feel of the hotel is old. The reception area is messy. Rooms are getting old. Service at reception with check-in and check-out is slow and not very welcoming, more transactional.

I stayed 3 nights -- had planned a fourth but because of a taxi strike the day I was leaving, I moved to an airport hotel for my last night. Mercure Place Wilson is an excellent, with easy walking to everywhere in the city centre. 15 minutes to the Pont Neuf, 5 minutes to the Capiloule, very easy access to restaurants. Staff was professional and helpful, room was good, clean, efficient.
