When I arrived at the desk, and greeted in French, Bonjour, no Bonjour back, just a cold expression on her face. Just told me I needed to pay. I sorted this. Then she spoke into a voice translator app, my room number. This is a safety risk for a solo female traveller so I had to remind her of this and asked for a room change and this time not say it out loud, just to write it out. Just basic stuff that would be covered in training. Was she new? Anyway, to be fair to her when I said merci to her she smiled. The restaurant... the staff... food was delivered fairly promptly, but the waiter did not stop to ask if I needed something, I had to chase him to ask for tomato ketchup and tell him he brought normal coke instead of coke zero. Im diabetic and because I saw this was normal coke I was saved from sugar spikes. Perhaps pay attention to what I ordered? Alao, lack of eye contact when I went up to pay. Hello? Again, doesn't leave a good impression. In the hospitality industry this screams lack of training or lack of motivation. The next day, upon checkout, it was like night and day, literally as well as metaphorically. The front desk staff were lovely and cooperative. Would I go back? No.
