I booked an wheelchair accessible room and on arrival was told we'd been upgraded to a newer room. Whilst the room was accessible and had a disabled bathroom, it was only a small room with little space for luggage. We returned to the hotel after an evening out and had been told the Ibis doors would be locked but access could be gained via the Mercure entrance. However there were several steps at that entrance and my husband had to go in and request thst the Ibis doors be opened so I could get in. If I had been alone this would have been very difficult. On the plus side the parking was good being under the hotel with lift access to the hotel lobby and the breakfast was also good.

We stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms, which was really nice. The breakfast was very good and the hotel was spotless. The receptionist was helpful at check in. The only bits that bothered me were firstly, if you are staying in the hotel, I don't see why you should be charged for the parking, and reception closed quite early at night, meaning you had to go through the sister Mercure hotel reception which feels a bit wrong.

We will be sure to pass allow your kind words to the entirety of the breakfast, housekeeping and reception teams. For your next stay, if you prefer not to use our underground, secure, private parking lot for the price of 14€ per night, city parking is available on all the streets surrounding our hotel. You can pay at their kiosques for a couple of euros an hour and it is free from 7 pm to 9 am. Concerning regrouping of the reception desks at the Mercure Hotel, this is done for security reasons. We are very lucky to be situated right in the downtown area of Caen, near the hustle and bustle of the tourist sites and bars. During the sometimess busy night hours, the hotel's safety is our absolute top priority. By regrouping the two hotels around one entrance/exit, our night receptionists are able to monitor who comes and goes. We wish you a wonderful week to come and look forward to seeing you again soon.
