Understandably the bar was closed because of COVID. Not out of safety considerations but commercial ones. Not nice (usually a pleasant bar), but realistic. despite the fact I lost gold status last year we got an upgrade to Privilege, which was well appreciated!

VERY PLESANT, STAFF VERY HELPFUL WHEN OUR DOOR JAMMED AND CHANGED ROOMS INSTANTLEY.

The hotel itself is OK, equipment and overall aspect of the room are good even though a bit below compared to other Mercure hôtels I have been sleeping. Breakfast cost is just unacceptable. 17euros for a breakfast in a provincial city is much more expensive than any dinner in a restaurant over there.

As always, a warm welcome greeted me upon my arrival. No problems at check-in. Slightly disappointed by the 'welcome drink' but I fully understand why there is no bar and a limited choice of drinks in the present circumstances. My room (a privilege room) was again exactly what I expected with lots of power points, fluffy robe and slippers and a good choice of drinks in the mini-bar. I was getting up early for the ferry in the morning; so, did not experience breakfast. Check-out was swift (bill settled the previous evening) and found my car safe in the underground car park - well worth the extra charge. Overall, I was satisfied with my, on this occasion, brief stay. I look forward to returning for a longer stay in the future. Thanks to all the staff for their efforts.

We found this stay very expensive. We already felt £140 was expensive for one night in an ordinary hotel but when we then had to pay an extra 43 Euros to stay that night it became a VERY expensive room. It was unfortunate that by mistake we had arrived one night early but I would have thought that you could have accommodated us for the original price. It was late in the day and the hotel was not full.I thought that the later a booking was made, the lower the price was. Also you could still re~sell our room the following day. We have stayed with you in many places and have never paid this price before.

Comfortable room in a quiet Mercure hotel. But : - we are still looking for iPhone dock station as described in hotel website - among both pillows quality was very heterogeneous - breakfast is announced to be served up to 10.30am; from 10.15 no more supply of scrambled eggs nor pancakes onto the buffet These seem details but coming from other Accor hotel experiencies, it does make the difference

The hotel room and staff at the reception were fine and we liked our room with a view on the harbour but we had not anticipated how noisy it would be at night although it was only Thursday night. We found the air-con setting too cold so opened our window but could not sleep because of the noise. Apart from this, everything else was fine.

I just can not believe it. Travelling with a young family, asking over the phone a connected room...done Prices ...in line with a four star hotel. Thank god that we show up middle of the day. Hotel totally out dated....70’s Dirty Stained Carpet with bleach stains, communicated door had a fight with Jim Morrison on a bad day. Honestly, a total disgrace, we turned around and found minutes later a five stars, same price and very decent. I do not recommend, I fact I recommend for the Hotel Mercure to be closed and demolished. With a young family, a total horror to think that we could have show up late that day and left with no option....scary . Group ACCOR do something.....disgraceful....

Dear Sir D., The majority of our guests appreciate our friendly and helpful staff. You on the other hand practically tossed your room keys at our Front Desk Assistant even though she’d been nothing but helpful and efficient. We agree that our décor is looking a bit tired and we are eagerly awaiting renovations. But I can assure you that, no, our carpeting does not date back to the 1970s. Over the phone I encouraged you to book a Privilege category family room with a king size bed and living room area large enough to accommodate the two cots you requested. As I recall, you were adamant about wanting two entirely separate connecting rooms. As it occurs, we only have Standard category connecting rooms. It is indeed a shame that you were so upset by a bleach stain that you did not seem to notice the large corner room with a harbor view. You also make no mention of the 50% discount on the second room or that the cots were in place when you arrived despite checking in less than 30 minutes after booking. When you came back downstairs only moments after arriving, it was clear to me that you were determined to check out in a huff. You left us no chance to show you a different pair of connecting rooms or a Privilege family room, which you would likely have found more aesthetically pleasing. If you demand five-star perfection, I think you will agree that it is far easier to simply book a five-star hotel at the outset instead of booking a four-star and expecting a five-star room. Should we have been lucky enough to welcome Jim Morrison in our hotel, we probably would have enshrined any evidence of his passage. We did have Pete Doherty once and he was unusually well-behaved. Was reasonably pleased. Decent room. Good shower. Excellent breakfast. Two things disappointed me. I checked in on line and therefore expected just to pick up my key on arrival but was asked to fill in my details again. Secondly our room lacked sockets. There was none my side of the bed to charge phones.

The hotel room was very conveniently located downtown and had all the facilities (including a very clean fitness room) expected. The extra (coffee and drinks) in the privilege room were well appreciated and justified the price difference with the standard room. The staff was very nice and attentive. However the room could have been cleaner: it was smelly, could have been better vacuumed, bathroom and toilets could be cleaner, dirty window.
