We arrived shortly after midnight and the night porter was very helpful and guided us into the car park - which does take some careful driving particularly if you are in a hire car picked up with the last hour!! Throughout our stay the staff were very polite, helpful in giving us information about the town etc.

Starting with the good points, the staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always pleasant, cheerful and willing. The hotel was in a great position, right by the old town with a pretty view across the park.. Tea and coffee making very much appreciated. The downsides - we chose this hotel specifically because it advertised parking. We paid in advance and just before our stay we received an email telling us that no parking was available. We were very disappointed and it caused us a lot of stress worrying whether we would be able to find inexpensive parking nearby. We were directed to an open air car park behind the hotel, and luckily managed to grab the last remaining space. We then felt committed, we could not take the car anywhere for fear of not having any space when we returned. Had we known earlier, we would have cancelled and found another hotel with better parking arrangements. We felt that the hotel needed updating. Our room was OK but the toilet roll holder was missing off the wall, not great for a 4 star hotel. The wardrobe was bizarre, it was too small for the coat hangers which made it difficult to close the door properly with clothes inside.

On the good side: Great location, Great and friendly staff, Clean. On the negative side: Room furniture seemed quite old, noise insulation (window and door) was horrible, breakfast was OK, but not much choices, parking is so small (height and width). For a Mercure Hotel, I would expect much better

Room wasn’t ready on arrival (after 3pm) and had no choice but to go away and come back later rather than be offered a drink in the bar while waiting. Corridors and room doors all shabby and need redecoration. Room coffee facilities didn’t include milk. Room Safe so close to ground was unusable. Breakfast was basic for a non inexpensive tariff. As an ACCOR member I felt overcharged for a poor standard of hotel and am apprehensive of our visit to the MERCURE in La Rochelle in a few days time. I really hope the standard in La Rochelle will exceed the terrible standards in Perpignan.

We arrived at night by car It would have been better if the hotel had more parking . We had to enter a public garage. Also the television. Would be better if there were some English:American stations Not only frencf
