This is a 4 star rated hotel - I have stayed at Novotel before. To be told "No cleaning unless requested due to sustainabilty/green certification" does not wash - THAT is simply to save the hotel money. For 4 star I expect my room to be cleaned daily without requesting. The reception staff were very good and friendly - could not rate them any better. Air con struggled in the heat

I needed to stay in Maastricht for one night and this hotel "did the job" but was not in walking distance to the center as I initially wanted. There is a bus taking you to the center, which is handy though. The room was clean and had all the towels and toiletries necessary; from this point of view, I am very satisfied. Why I am giving it a "red" review is because all over the hotel there were groups of men walking around or hanging in the corridor, speaking loudly on the phone in different languages, food smells coming out of rooms - probably cooking or heating up food in rooms, I was alone with 2 kids and we didn't feel great when waiting for the elevator 6 men were breathing in my neck. Also, the restaurant was definitely nothing special, but extremely expensive. We had to eat in, because of the late time and distance to the center, and I thought it would be a great idea, but the price was almost 100 euros for 1 adult with 2 kids, where the kids shared 1 pizza and one portion of wings. One point I also loved is that this is meant to be a family place, with a lot of board games and magazines to share in the lobby. The atmosphere would have been great if it wasn't for those groups (I assume refugees or some type of workers, maybe?)

Wonderful staff and the room was roomy. There was a very nice trat box for my dog. They aren't located near the center, about a 40 minute walk in, or a bus ride.
