Great location and accommodations

Kimlaw Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

Fantastic location, comfortable bed and great breakfast. Absolutely no complaints about the accommodations. I took the most basic room with the bed upstairs and it was comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating . Walk out of the hotel and the beach is right there. You are adjacent to old Nice and 3 minutes walking to plaza Messina . Bus #12 will take you to the hotel from the airport. Would definitely recommend The only down side is the hotel provides soap but not hair conditioner

Promenade Perks but Room for Improvement

SoloStays Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

The Mercure Hotel is beautifully situated on the Promenade des Anglais, offering a prime location right on Nice's seafront. It’s just a minute’s walk from the bustling Marché Aux Fleurs and the charming cobbled streets of the old town. The nearest tram stop, Opera, provides easy access to the rest of Nice, including the airport (with one change at Jean Médecin). The hotel features a small lobby with a quaint seating area that doubles as a bar. There are two floors of rooms, and the breakfast room is located in the basement. Unfortunately, this setup is not wheelchair-accessible, as there is no lift available. Check-in was swift and friendly. My initial room, a standard one, was beautifully furnished but somewhat limited in functionality - fine for a solo traveler. The bed was only accessible from one side due to a pillar, which restricted movement around it. However, the room had two Juliet balconies, allowing natural light to flood in despite being overshadowed by the opera house across the alley. The bathroom was modern and included a walk-in shower. As an Accor loyalty member entitled to upgrades, I enquired at reception and was moved to a privilege room. This room was more spacious, with an added armchair for relaxation, a larger bathroom, a coffee machine, and a mini fridge. However, the view was less inspiring, facing the flat roof of an adjacent property, and the air conditioning struggled to heat the room adequately during the winter months. The Wi-Fi was sufficient at 20 Mbps but lacked stability. The privilege room also included a vanity area, a wardrobe, and adequate power outlets. The hotel provides thoughtful touches like refillable water stations in the corridors and complimentary sweets in the bar area. Overall, I would categorize this hotel as functional rather than luxurious. While the location is unbeatable and some features are commendable, it lacks the coziness and comfort I look for in a stay at this price point. Having stayed here before, I’m unlikely to return, as there are better options within the Accor brand nearby.

Dear MR/Mme Solostays , Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel. We are delighted that you appreciated our ideal location in the heart of the Promenade des Anglais, as well as the thoughtful touches we offer, such as the refillable water stations and complimentary sweets. We are also pleased to hear that the upgrade to a privilege room met some of your expectations, particularly in terms of space and amenities. However, we sincerely regret that certain aspects did not live up to your expectations. Your feedback regarding the room layout, accessibility, and the heating system during the winter months is invaluable. We also understand the importance of a stable Wi-Fi connection and are continuously working to optimize this service to provide a quality digital experience. Our goal is to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay for all our guests. We are sorry that this was not fully the case this time. However, we hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you in the future, so we can provide you with a stay that better aligns with your expectations. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly for your next stay; we would be delighted to personalize your experience and make your time with us more enjoyable. Best regards,

Very well located.

I booked via All.com. I’m gold member. I booked a classic room. - first I was offered a room kind Mezzanine, which is very unusual. I’ve never seen a room like that during my travellings. I hadn’t seen all pics about classic rooms at booking, so I didn’t notice this kind of room in classic room category. I thing you should put rooms Mezzanine in a different category, to avoid misunderstandings. Fortunately there was other option. - second (and last option) I received a classic room with courtyard view. The size and equipment of the room was correct, as usual in Ibis & Mercure. Unfortunately there was a constant noise, quite strong, coming from the courtyard day and night. I couldn’t sleep properly on the first two nights because of this noise (I think climatisation, or some other machinery). I measured with my phone on the second night: it was 40 dB. I recommend to add this inconvenience to the rooms’ description as well. It was a holiday stay for me after very hard working days…I couldn’t imagine that I receive a room with stairs or/and a noisy room. At the end of my stay I talked to the staff, and they recommended me to ask next time - not Mezzanine and - street view room. How can I be sure to receive a such a room next time? I plan to go back to this hotel, an I will do so. For my first stay I was a little bit disappointed. Location/staff/breakfast/cleaning: all excellent.

It's location is great. Near the old time and seafront. But the rooms have a very low ceiling. For me no problem because I'm small but for regular people it could be uncomfortable. The bathroom was ok but it was a bit smelly. The airco made a lot of noise. The room itself has a carpet and it feels a bit outdated. A few front desk people where very kind and helpful but also a few where not.

Dear KARLIJN Thank you for the great review of our hotel! We are glad that you enjoyed our welcome and location. We take due note of your remarks to improuve our services. We vhope to see you again very soon. Sincerely, Romain Huisse General Manager
