Great hotel in a brilliant location. The restaurant and bar areas were some of the nicest I've seen in a hotel. The bedroom was good (family room with 3 beds). The pool was nice, although overcrowded when fully booked and it's a pain to have to schedule a time to go. Overall we had an excellent stay.

The location of the hotel is just a 10 minute walk to the start of the town centre. Choose from a peaceful stroll along the river or through the bustling streets. The carpark is an added bonus but could be cheaper for residents. The pool and sauna are another an added bonus. Our room 404 was a great size but was a little tired in areas. The carpet had quite a few stains, nothing sinister but not the best either. The usb ports on one side of the bed were broken and the sofa bed was quite uncomfortable. Was a bit strange to have a separate bathroom and toilet but we got used to it. The creaky toilet door was a pain in the night, it was oiled after we mentioned it to the reception staff but this only lasted one night. The funky bar area is well thought out with a great seating area but our favourite, and a must in the mini May heatwave, was the outdoor terrace seating next to the river. The bar offer was well thought out and we made the most of it especially the French spritz which is now our new summer go to. Overall a great experience and one we would choose again if visiting York again Thanks Accor Novotel York centre

The hotel is about an easy 10 minute walk from the city centre and is in a very quiet location. We stayed here as we were going to an event at The Barbican which is less than a 5 minute walk away. The hotel has a very spacious reception/bar/restaurant area with various types of cosy seating. There is a lovely outdoor seating area right next to the river and was also nice and quiet. The reception staff were incredible, very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Our room was much bigger than we expected and extremely clean and had a fridge which was completely silent. The bed was massive and very comfortable. We had a great nights sleep as it was so quiet. Breakfast was great, lots of choices for both food and drinks. We would definitely stay here again.

All the staff we met were warm friendly and welcoming happy to chat with my girls booking the pool was easy we were given directions to get to town by the river which was a lovely walk and brought us to the city cruises area which we took advantage of since it was a very hot day and also the way to town via the road our second day again it was a very hot day so we booked on the city tour bus which we hopped on and off as required taking advantage of the shade throughout the day only to be pleasantly surprised at the end of the day that this tour bus the blue one stops right outside the hotel absolutely perfect the only thing I would of liked is the option of a jug of water in the room fridge for on a night and it would of been a ten out of ten for this menopausal woman if you know you know breakfast on a morning was lovely and the options plentiful I have never seen my girls eat so much and they tried everything must of been the lovely river air well done Novotel staff we can’t wait to visit again
