After scratching my car in the terribly tight hotel car park it was lovely to be greeted with such a kind and friendly receptionist! The room itself was ok and the beds were comfortable. Really nice to be able to open a window on such a hot day. The bathroom was tired but serviceable. Good location so overall not bad.

A good base but the hotel is looking dated and shabby round the edges. Very hot weather so a decent sleep not helped by a window with security lock and which needed to be propped open to prevent it sliding down. The staff were all friendly and seemed keen to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

I have stayed here many times and always ask for the same room 301. The staff are always helpful and friendly. However, the room, and I suspect, many others, are just not equipped for high temperatures. It was almost unbearable and I asked for a fan. The first one was not working properly and then I was given a tiny desk top one which did absolutely nothing to help. I noticed on Trip Advisor that the heat had been mentioned before and the Manager said that he had purchased fans. Well, a proper sized fan placed in the room before arrival would have been very useful........ Obviously the windows were open all the time, and consequently, this meant noise from the air con units of the Hotel de Vin and fellow guests being noisy very late at night and in the early hours. I was there for 4 nights so there was a variety of guests! I have always liked this hotel, its budget, but its clean and perfect location. Sadly the lack of investment in fans or even air con (which it clearly used to have as there was a unit in my room) spoilt this trip and I just wont stay again. Sorry. I guess it would be fine in the winter though!!

Staff on general very pleasant and helpful - esp member of Reception staff (Ava? Eva? Pos Polish and wore her dark hair in a ponytail) who learnt my breakfast choices and anticipated them! She was lovely and always very friendly. Had to complain about another member of staff - young, hair in short ponytail- who was on reception duty the night if the Workd Cup Final. My TV wasn't working and he refused to cone and sort it claiming that it would need to wait until the next day because "government policy' meant that he needed to be 'suited up' in PPE - something that turned out to be completely untrue. It was put down for a maintenance check the next day instead. The following day, when I mentioned the probs at Reception, the member of staff said she would check that my TV was working now right enough ' to save you having to go up the stairs and come back again' I expressed surprise given the conversation the previous evening. She explained that as long as I was not in the room at the same time, it was fine. Exasperated, I said that I'd suggested that the previous evening! Clearly the ponytailed staff member wasn't wanting to be taken away from the football.

Slightly atypical Ibis in a conversion outside the city gates but within easy walking distance. Covid safe with friendly informative reception staff.

Positives: The breakfast was nice and plentiful. The room was clean and check-in was quick and easy. The location is great, putting you a short walk from the centre. Staff are friendly and helpful. Negatives: Our room had a conjoining door with the room next door, which reduced any soundproofing. This meant that we could clearly hear every single word the people in the neighbouring room said, even when they spoke at a normal volume. This caused some issues when trying to sleep. The shower could use a good scrub as it is somewhat stained.

We had a good stay with you however I should have informed you that I had mobility issues so the room (209) and its location was not ideal Also our sleep was disturbed by the ventelation fans on the adjacient building. As we have used this hotel before we were rather disapointed.

4 bed room clean and near railway station. However, whole place lacks character and basic comforts. Only one plastic chair in 4 bed room? Paper cups ? No toileteries? Certainly expect more for the price paid. Staff on reception friendly. Will definitely not be recommending Ibis to anyone!

Good venue some minor niggles

This came to normal Ibis standards with some minor niggles. Bathroom good but tired, e.g. paint at bottom of door coming off. Carpark really difficult, limited spaces ,- no problem but limited size of spaces made worse by concrete bollards protecting pillars. Good covid mitigation measures. Easy to get into centre of York.

Not as dog friendly as other Accor hotels. Needs a more consistent & adaptable approach re eating arrangements in hotel.

We managed to secure a good daily rate (approx. £65 B&B) which coupled with other aspects outlined below made this stay okay - if we had been charged some of the higher rates mentioned in other reviews, we would not have been so happy !. Parking on site (the website shows £9 daily rate but we were asked for £10 as it had apparently increased - but the website had not been updated. Credit to the staff they honoured the website price), good location, great breakfast and overall the staff were really friendly and helpful. Bedroom was a reasonable size, clean and good enough for our short stay. I was a bit concerned on arrival as the main mattress had a "topper - thinner mattress" on top and there was a large dip on my side. However I had a comfortable and good nights sleep and no problems. The area that let it down was the bathroom. The shower controls were difficult to properly adjust and the water temperature would suddenly go from acceptable to very hot without warning. Ceiling paint was peeling in places, paint was missing from the door and the plastic trim was hanging off in places around the skirting area. Nothing major, it just needs a bit of TLC i.e. the single chair in the room either needed recovering or chucking out as it had seen better days. Wifi was good and free.

Visited York for an overnight stay. Hotel is ideally located close to the city centre. Room was a little tired and in need of some tlc, had a few issues with first room but staff were brilliant and friendly.

A good location, breakfast very good, staff friendly, Covid awareness with sanitiser, masks in public areas, couldn't work out how to get subtitles on the TV! , hotel a little outdated must be time for a refurburbishment? , but a good stay and would stay again.
