The rooms really need a refurb, they are really quite dated and tired. Ceiling tiles with brown water marks where there have been leaks, the baths are incredibly precarious, super cheap plastic so standing in them for the shower and the floor of the actual bath moves. The showers are also fixed in position which is a nightmare as the water gets absolutely everywhere. The rooms were plenty spacious, the conservatory floor which was unavoidable due to where our rooms were location is uneven which was dangerous as a member of our party tripped. The hotel lobby and entrance has clearly had a face lift and was lovely and clean and finished to a high standard. It’s just a real shame the rooms are not a reflection of the entry to the hotel.

Very good for 3 star, pity you did not have any Brandy glasses. what made it worse was the bar man's statement I've been in the bar trade for twenty years and never seen Brandy glasses !!!!!!

Nice, quiet & clean rooms with all amenities. Modern fixtures in a larger than usual room with garden view. Shower, TV & coffee machine was nice touch. Gangways & room doors looking tired & in need of a fresh coat of paint. The Chef is a real asset to the hotel,his fish of the day is a personal triumph.

Good and friendly staff. Room spacious and easy to manage the lights in the room. Breakfast good with ample supply and good variety. Having a fridge would be nice. Bathroom floor easily gets wet.

From the moment I rang the hotel looking to book rooms the staff went out of their way to be helpful and it was the same throughout our stay. They couldn’t have been better. We had a lovely suite and ate at the hotel on three evenings. The food was really good too with a good choice of vegetarian dishes available as well as meat and fish dishes.

Food on the evening was not the best, some starters was sent back and the rice with the pork belly was very dry.

had a nice stay room was very clean and spacious with a lovely view hotel however was a little tired in certain areas. Food was very good in the resturant and staff were very nice and helpful. Swimming pool was nice for a dip too.

The public areas look fantastic, although the room was dated and dilapidated. I had to use my mobile to call reception, as the room phone didn't work. The TV didn't work and it took an hour for room service to arrive. I am an accor member and normally get a welcome drink and an upgrade to my room - neither were offered to me. Pretty poor experience. Wouldn't stay again.

Good effort in difficult circumstances

The room is dated, and not of the standard I expect in a 4 star hotel. I am spire elite with IHG and diamond for life with Hilton. I was platinum with Accor but for some reason my log in did not work and so created a new account in order to book. I booked Accor as I can bring my pet along and for this trip that was necessary. However I was concerned at what appears to be the decline within their estate since my last stay as Sofitel Heathrow and Mercure Newbury. I am consistently having to request assistance for minor issues such as room daily items are rarely delivered (once in a week) and the tv systems in the suite do not work? When I ring reception it goes to EE voicemail. I was until this stay unaware Accor were affiliated with EE…bizarre.

Pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Staff were helpful. Food and service excellent. Location quiet and handy for city and Beverley. Room was spacious,clean and had all the necessary amenities I needed.

Stayed hear a few times over the last few years and once again not disappointed. Reception staff very welcoming, dinner and breakfast excellent, perfect location and staff all very professional and pleasant, rooms in need of a refurbishment but perfect for a 2 night stay and the price. We got a 2night stay with dinner on first night and breakfast on both mornings for 160 excellent value. Already planning our next visit.
