The hotel met our expectations and was ideally situated for our visit to friends and the local area. Staff were excellent and there is a very friendly atmosphere throughout. We coincided with Christmas events so were not able to dine in the evening, so can't comment on the dining experience. Breakfast was self service and in line with other chain hotels. The room and bathroom were clean but shabby - overdue a refit, but the hotel was kind and thoughtful by putting us away from partying groups, so it was quiet and comfortable. Biscuits with the tea and coffee would have been nice.

The room I was allocated had seen better days, black discolouration on the poorly applied mastic around the window frames the same on the sealant around the bath. The sink had a number of cracks and chips in the porcelain leaving dirty black germ filled marks. A leather type chair in the room had what looked like cigarette burns on the seating area. All in all the room had seen better days and was not to the standard I was expecting.

As usual the staff were great. However I was disappointed that the room was not serviced after our 1st night, the shower despite looking like it had a new head has very low power and it was difficult to wash my hair, there was mildew in the corner of the bath which looked horrible, and the bedding had a rip in it. There was only one chair in the room although there were 2 of us. So not up to your usual standard this time!

Great staff, breakfast was fantastic as usual. It's was quite noise throughout the night until 1.15 am as there were christmas functions. We were told pre arrival. Overall we love to stay at the Mercure Willerby. We will book again.
