Well located for the arena, room was nice. Shower was a bit lacklustre. Price was incredibly high, over £180 for one night. (I understand why it is so high, but doesn’t make it hurt any less!)

We arrived fairly early from Liverpool. 6 years working in 4* and 5* hotels, allow me to know that the check in is usually at 3 pm, and ONLY if there is availability, the guest can have the room earlier , UNLESS they make the booking one night before, so the early check in is guaranteed. When we arrived, the reception was totally empty. I had to walk around and look for someone to help us to drop our luggage, until the check in time. Almost 5 minutes later, a gentleman came out of the back office, looking at us, not particularly up for a warm welcome; which was ok. I told him that we had a booking for one night... He literally, raised his hand slowly, looked at his watch and he told us "it's too early"... Not a smile, nothing at all... I literally froze and I felt that I made the worse mistake of the world. When my husband explained to him that we only wanted to drop the luggage, then he kind of started warming up. We love ACCOR and especially IBIS, becasue people are super nice, especially at the northern UK! But this was totally a bad exception. When we came later, a lady checked us in, and because we had our little doggie with us, she told us that the area that we could have our little fury friend with during breakfast, was at the bar area. I said 'thank you very much", but we can leave the dog in the room during breakfast. Then, she changed her attitude entirely, and with a firm but not polite way, told us "you can't leave the dog in the room alone". I didn't say anything at all, we walked in the room, and for the rest of the day, we avoided any other communication with the reception. Not the warm, northern welcome we hoped for. Definitely not coming back, unless the Management improves the customer service. We actually had goodies for the receptionists (as we always do), but we didn't think that the service deserved a "thank you".

The lack of warmth you described on arrival, as well as the handling of your luggage request, is disappointing and will be addressed internally with the team involved. I’m also sorry for the confusion and tone regarding your dog’s accommodation. Our aim is always to clearly and kindly explain our pet policy while ensuring guests feel supported and comfortable throughout their stay. It’s clear this was not your experience. Your comments are being taken seriously and will be shared with the management team so we can review both our service approach and communication standards. Clean and comfortable room, only issue it appeared the shower door was missing as only had a glass panel therefore water went onto bathroom floor.

Given the publicity about the Travelodge incidents, I was shocked to be given the key to the wrong room. Made me feel very insecure leaving my stuff and staying in the room. Overnight I locked the door and jammed the chair against the door. I would have thought this would be a priority for the hotel management.
