Great location for families, but our room was a letdown

We visited for a 3-night family stay at the end of October and booked an “Executive” room. We knew there was construction and expected the exterior to look rough, but we didn’t realize the rooms would be in such poor shape. Ours seemed to be from an older, unrenovated stock: the carpet was old, dingy, and frayed; furniture was worn with noticeable stains; and the lighting was dim, leaving the space dark and depressing. Paint was chipped on walls, baseboards, and doors. We had a connecting room, and once it was unlocked, the connecting doors were visibly stained (I carry disinfecting wipes and felt compelled to clean them myself). On the plus side, the linens and towels were clean, the staff were friendly and seemed to do their best with the resources available, and the evening popcorn was a thoughtful treat for the kids. Do note there is noticeable construction noise during the day, which may impact naps or mid-day downtime. Breakfast was lackluster for the price—edible but uninspired. In my view, the hotel should either close during renovations or clearly differentiate renovated vs. older rooms at booking so guests can choose. Had that been clear, I would have passed. I sincerely hope all rooms receive a full refresh during the renovation. Bottom line: Fantastic location for families and sightseeing, but until renovations are complete (and you can be sure you’ll get a refreshed room), the value isn’t there.

Overall, the front reception staff is very accommodating and any questions were answered efficiently by Olivier. The exceptional experience with Pauline deserves a separate acknowledgement. We departed the hotel early for the airport (Roissy) and realized (at the airport) we'd left the bag with my husband's medication and a few other easily replaceable items - it was the meds that were important - At first we weren't sure where it was, however Pauline had the room checked and found it. I could not travel back to fetch it. Pauline secured a courier (Adam) to hand deliver to our terminal. Pauline managed the situation professionally. Her calm demeanor over our several phone calls helped reassure me (the forgetful one) we would receive the bag. We enjoyed a laugh when I told her I'd wear my husband's red beanie and bright yellow jacket as identification for the courier. Within the hour the bag was in our hands. Merci Pauline! Additionally, the restaurant staff were incredibly thoughtful. One afternoon I stopped in for a coffee, inquired about the dinner menu/hours and mentioned my husband was upstairs with a terrible cold/cough. Upon hearing this the young lady immediately offered to send up a pot of chamomile tea and honey to the room. Merci beaucoup à tous.

Excellent location to many tourists attractions, walkable distance to Lourve. Hotel is under renovation but staff was able to give us an inside courtyard room which we didn’t hear the noise at all. Also room is clean and spacious. Like to have ice cream station and selfie booth in the hotel lobby. The only negative thing was that the bed was small expecting at least a queen size bed for a 4 stars hotel and also expected to get complimentary bottle of water as most 4 stars hotel will do. Overall good stay!
