Needs Refurbishment

We had a suite with living room, dining room and a connecting room. The rooms were drab and overpriced. The cleaning staff was great - the bar service was great. Some front desk was was very helpful but others treated us like we were bothering them.

we were very well welcome from the moment we drove to the hotel. well done. the hard ware in the room need maintenance and upgrade as for the food quality and service at breakfast really should improve as for the reservation I send an email, as I could not find any special offer for accor members

I've stayed at the Sofitel, Lyon multiple times and although the decor is a bit dated, the staff is top notch. Theses folks understand are consistently hospitable and go out of there way to make you comfortable.

The worst experience I had in any hotel we have stayed...and we travel a lot. The a/c system is old and doesn't work properly. Even after the Front desk change us to a "premium suite". Really disappointed. We had to move to another hotel that night...

We had a great stay in this hotel, from the minute we arrived to the minute we departed the staff were amazing. We were welcomed on the car park immediately by the concierge who notified the reception of our arrival so everything was ready when we got to the lobby. Our room was clean and fresh and well equipped. We had great service in the bar and restaurant areas. We will definitely stay again.

We booked at the Sofitel, essentially because of its underground carpark, well located in the heart of the Lyons. It can also be booked by external users (which I did in the past). As the official Accor website is quite silent about the extra parking fees and precise conditions of the carpark (multi-entry possible ?), we booked the carpark again directly via the external provider. Unfortunately, the entry of the carpark is not well indicated from the street when you arrive: you basically have to head towards the main entrance before you will be able see the carpark entrance. Sofitel staff can assist you to park and unpark your car if you wish. Parking lots are of normal size and we had no issue to park our station wagon. Direct access to lifts to lobby or rooms, without stairs or steps. Entries and exits of passagers via Sofitel lobby, hence extra safety. Sofitel staff currently not sufficiently trained for a 5-star hotel: 10 min waiting at arrival at concierge, with only one couple arriving shortly before us. Breakfast is held on the 8th floor with marvellous view over Lyons. Breakfast tables not properly dressed (spoons and glasses missing) and we had to ask several times to get served. Enough staff in the breakfast room, but not properly trained : without asking the plates of two members of our family were taken away, while another member was still eating. Another example: as we forgot some items in the fridge of our room, we were called by Sofitel. We told them that we would be back in 5 min and were told that the items would be stored in the fridge of the concierge. When we arrived as planned, the items were not yet there. After 5-10 min waiting they finally arrived. All in all, we were satisfied of the infrastructure (carpark, rooms, location) and the staff was kind and helpful, but we expected a little more service from a 5-star hotel.

Car park is available for every customer who booked a room and costs 30 € for a night. The access is just in front of the hotel, wher our valets can take care of your care if you want to. We are very sorry that you had to wait to talk to the concierge because he was busy with other customers. Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to plan such elements. Thank you for your remarks about breakfast. We apologize sincerely for the mistakes and will make sure to inform the head of department in order to prevent future occurrence. Housekeeping left someone else’s baby bathtub in our shower and the main dining room was closed, but everything else was great! The front desk people were exceptionally helpful and the breakfast was outstanding!

Hotel and room is clean and nice. Staff was excellent across the board. The bellman was particularly helpful at checkout. The location of the hotel is further from the old town than I expected, but walkable. The only small issue we had is that the USB ports in our room did not seem to work (and we did not contact you about this, because it wasn't that important).

firstly,was surprised with the sofitel in lyon as the sanitation in the bathroom was bad which had molds at the corners of the bath tub. carpet had visible stains like dogs pee and it had an unpleasant smell,AC was noisy and we could not sleep and the leg of that long table where the coffee machine is at is broken...and it looks like its been mended with glue several times. i would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

The staff was perfect. The breakfast was great and the venue spectacular. The hotel room was clean, but clearly shows its age. With the immediate proximity of the renovated intercontinental in Hotel Dieu, this Sofitel will undoubtedly have to reinvent itself.

Hotel in serious need of renovations

From the outside to the decoration of the rooms and public area, this hotel has not changed since the 1980s. And, ok its August but not possibility of having more than a tapas to eat? (Except for breakfast)

The hotel is poorly maintaint ! I was booking junior suite and it was absolutly unacceptable bad smelling and everthing in the room was looking terrible old and out lived. I do not recomend this hotel for anyone. Staff was good !

The Hotel is nicely situated. We had a junior suite facing the river. The staff were very friendly and the room service (we had breakfast in the room) were very friendly but lacked consistency. The toilet cabin in the suite is tiny and the bath room relatively small. THe room need a face lift no doubt; the wooden decor is scratched and the carpet should be replaced by a wooden floor.

Very friendly staff, great breakfast and lovely restaurant. The junior suite was clean and well equipped but in need of refreshing. Broken tiles, chipped furniture and dirty marks on the wall are not appropriate in a hotel of this standard.
