Severely outdated hotel

This hotel doesn’t appear have been renovated since 1970- outdated, worn furniture and colours. Skirting boards and door frames coming off walls, stains and chips on every piece of wooden furniture, carpet wrinkled on the floor, and I upgraded to a suite. No mini bar, the supposedly high end restaurant had about 3 things on the menu- it was empty when I went and no wonder. They had tradies there so hopefully starting a Reno but years overdue. This is the only ugly building in Lyon- and it looks like it needs to be knocked down. Great view of the city from in it- but not looking at it or staying in it.

Requests made for rooms (ex- having a birthday decor, housekeeping, change bedding) had to be repeated over and over again, when asked for help staff sent could only speak french, even though it was made clear that guest does not speak a word of french but only speaks english.

While arrival was a bit bumpy, I will say the management team was quick to address our concerns and make our 5 night stay an enjoyable experience. The staff overall is superb - friendly, efficient and helpful. The hotel does need some further updating, especially in terms of outlets availability, but would certainly stay there again. Nicola, server at the Light Bar, and Valentin, concierge, were just outstanding. Thanks for Valentin we booked a fabulous NYE celebration at a nearby hotel. All was perfect. Really appreciated Mr. Vivien Dalle and Ms. Claire Vautrin for taking care of our needs and their professionalism. It was highly appreciated. Overall, we had a lovely time...
