A common problem in France is the facilitation of proper parking when staying in a city hotel. With Mercure we experienced the same as we didnt pre-book the hotel parking and therefore couldnt have a proper and safe space. Nevertheless we ended up parking on the main, public road and luckily we faced any issues. Other than that it is the luggage problem. Try to get 4 big suitcases via stairs and a small elevator to your room, without help from the staff. Having said, the location is great (centre Lyon), staff is friendly, breakfast is ok and rooms are great when booking a family room (2 adults, 2 kids).

Well located between bus and train station

The hotel is very well located just outside of Perrache Train station and the bus station. Please be aware that the main entrance is at the end of the car rental parking lot, as google will send you to another entrance in a lower floor. The building has a lot of character and it’s old but they have renovated some of the rooms, but kept some of the old details. The staff is very nice and helpful. The breakfast was good and standard for this type of hotel. The room had a juliet type balcony, which was pretty cool. The elevators are old and small. It is very well located to go to most sites as we were able to walk everywhere.
