When I was presented with the Bill I knew it was wrong but not sure which line was wrong. It was after I left and reviewed the bill again I realised I had been double charged for drinks. The hotel reception was helpful to try and resolve it but not flexible.

We use the hotel multiple times a year on our journey back from the Alps to the UK due to location from the motorway and to Calais. We’ve tried most of the big brand names over the years and usually find Novotel at a premium to the others which we’re happy to pay for. However this time it was disappointing. The room was dirty when we got in - rubbish in the floor, hair in the bathroom. And the hot water ran out in the evening! Not great when you’ve spent 10 hours driving and want a hot cleansing shower for the whole family. When we asked reception because the hotel was full they couldn’t do anything for us except promise a reduction to the room bill which we still have not received because only the manager could do this and they weren’t onsite at 9am!! Suggest avoiding until they’ve finished the hotel upgrade which will be some point next year.

The cleanliness issues you described and the lack of hot water are unacceptable, and we fully understand your frustration, especially after a 10-hour drive. Please accept our apologies for this experience. Regarding the refund, we would like to clarify the situation. Our Front Office Manager was indeed present at the hotel from 8:00 AM. We can confirm that she personally processed the refund of €41.37 (corresponding to the 30% discount agreed upon) at 8:29 AM on the morning of your departure. Depending on your bank, this transaction should appear on your statement very soon. We are working hard on our renovations to improve our guest experience, and we hope you will give us another chance in the future to show you the high standards you are used to.
