I had a room that was warm and smelled musty. As the air con didn't work the room couldn't get cool and the musty stench remained. Because of the mosquitoes it was not an option to open the window. The breakfast was insufficient and mediocre. No fried eggs and bacon, but pre-cooked eggs (cold) and no cold cuts. There weren't even cold cuts to put on bread. There was a moderate amount of fresh fruit. The only warm thing you could eat were toasted sandwiches that were also thinly covered. In short: a bad investment for €120 per night. Better hotels can be found in the area for that money.

Within the Covid 19 required restrictions the Novotel welcomed us very properly & in a friendly manner . The room was immaculately clean . Simple dinner was warming and carte des vins was excellent . breakfast OK given the circumstances .

We were travelling back to the UK from the South of France and stopped in Dijon. The hotel is well located, not too far from the motorway (by car, you can't hear the motorway there). Service was friendly, rooms provide the comfort you expect from a Novotel.

Room was large, clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful and helped with luggage as I was travelling with a baby. The staff in the restaurant were really accommodating and supportive about my daughters allergy. Thank you.

Better and worse

With many trips to Italy, we have often stayed here. It is especially good in warmer months when our young children could swim in the pool , play table tennis, or just plat in the large area outside. It was refurbished last year. Admittedly the decor was becoming jaded. It is certainly fresher and the shower room was brilliant. However, the toilet was wonky as it was mounted on a crooked floor. The bed was too close to the wall and my wife bashed her head on the wall when she got up too quickly at night. The desk has been replaced by a wire-shelving arrangement that looks scrappy. As usual, the food is passable but a bit greasy and, our fault for eating it all, a bit too much. Must have starters and not mains next time. The staff, as always, are excellent. Lovely people.

We stayed (1) 25/9/20-26/9/20 lovely food as full menu again, beautiful steak then (2) 2/10/20-3/10/20 the opposite, VERY linited menu, not even printed, the staff member just read out limited offer, only seemed to have 2 staff on duty, real shame after sucg good experience just one week earlier!

Having stayed at several Novotel hotels in the past this one was very disappointing. The new sytle without a proper reception is not a good idea at all. When you walk into an hotel for the first time having to try to work out were to go to check in is not good at all. The rooms for some reason at this hotel have a made up bed settee making the room rather cramped. The room should have had tea and coffee making facilities not just a kettle. When we asked for cups and spoons etc we were just informed we have everything you need. No offer was made to bring the missing items to our room we had to go in search. Normally we have always been very pleased with Novotel hotels. They will no longer be our preferred choice.

We have become accustomed over the years to slow service and inconsistent meal experiences. However, we deliberately chose, despite the expense, to stay at a Novotel because of the many adverts for the "all safe" COVID experience. After a long slow drive from Rotterdam to Dijon on the hottest day of the year (40 degrees) we were tired and in need of a relaxing and quiet experience - the usual aromatherapy arrival, laid back jazz, cool air con. Instead we had a crowded chaotic check in. Crowded dining experience - even out side! Worse still was breakfast which was literally a bun fight. There was no water/ coffee or tea in the rooms (COVID rules apparently). This did not make any sense as it was acceptable for toiletries to be left but not water in the minibar. It all felt very cheap and disappointing. There were no limits on the number of people at breakfast - it was very crowded and we felt unsafe! We have already booked to stay at the end of August on our return journey. We really hope things have improved.

Nice hotel but restaurant service can be improved

We had a nice stay in the hotel but the restaurant service could be better. The food was ok but the service can be improved. Personnel were not professionals. I noticed that a lot of people need to ask for small/big things, cg no knife and fork when dinner was served, waiting time was very long (1,5 hour after ordering a hamburger).

Location is fine, not far from the motorway. The room was quiet and comfortable and we enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant. A good stop between Northern Spain and The Netherlands. We would stay here again.

I will return with thanks however the price is a bit high compared with other nice hotels in the area... Good bed, nice shower, big TV-screen - however never used it. Friendly stuff. Housekeeping forgot to fill up, but the colleagues at the reception corrected it immediately.

Despite being a family of four and Platinum members of the Accor Club we were only provided with one welcome drink to share! All other hotels provide a welcome drink per person and when challenged they flatly refused. At breakfast the staff could not be seen and seemed to be in the back away from customers. When we did see them we had to ask for the breakfast items to be replenished as they had run out but they weren't checking. Despite our breakfast being on 13th August there were two yogurts with a date of 7th August and two yogurts with a date of 30th July, it seems that these go in and out of the fridge each day and no one checks the dates.
