I enjoyed the unusual decor of this novotel- retro 60s style colours and furnishing in the restaurant. although the room felt a little dated, the bathroom was clean and modern, and the bed very comfortable, slept very well.

Falling short

This Novotel was recommended by friends, especially as it has a secure car park. It is well located and the car park seems pretty secure. The hotel room itself was fine, check-in was very efficient having checked in in advance using the ALL system. However, the room had been inadequately serviced, as there were no sanitary bags in the WC and only 3 tea bags for refreshments. The fridge is empty as a matter of environmental policy (no plastic bottles) but surely the Accor Group can organise glass bottles, like the ones serving still water in the restaurant. There were 2 coach tours staying the night we stayed. That made the restaurant very busy, and although we asked whether there would be enough staff to serve everyone and were reassured that there were, in fact the restaurant staff were over-stretched and struggling to cope, though they worked very hard. Most annoying was the price of the wine - we were encouraged by the waitress to try a local wine and accepted on the assumption it would be cheaper than those listed. It was c.50% more expensive. The final dissatisfaction was that one of the buses was parked right outside our bedroom window and the bus started its engine and passengers started congregating around 6am making it impossible to sleep, especially as we had to leave the window open as the room was too hot. Surely, buses in such circumstances would be better instructed to wait at the front of the hotel to avoid disturbing everyone else staying at the hotel. My final note is that, having read the reviews prior to booking, I noticed that the Hotel's responses are identical, only varying depending on a good/bad review. That is not the sort of feedback that makes it look as if Novotel cares one jot about the criticisms it receives.
