As an All-Accor member we stayed at the Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon on our way back to the UK following a car event in Provence. Although the check-in and room was good, the bar staff were slow and inattentive. We were asked to take a seat and someone would take our order. We then saw that our drinks had been made in a timely manner and remained on the bar whilst the waiter went off somewhere. It was not busy with 2 other tables of customers. When the drinks finally arrived there was no interaction and when we finished our drinks no one came to see if we wanted anything else. I had to go to the bar and ask for another and was once again told it would be brought over. The 3 members of staff again were just talking at the bar and we had to wait! When the bill arrived their Hendrick’s and tonic was the same price, (for a smaller measure) than the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London that we stay at. We decided not to have dinner there and ate out. Their car park is also small with narrow spaces for any sports cars scattered on a couple of levels which you need to look out for their sign on the back of the wall. To add insult to injury we noted that if you are a hotel guest staying in a room you are charged €30, yet if you park for a restaurant reservation it is free!

We enjoyed our stay. Not super luxurious and a very small room, but the price was right, the A/C worked, and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and reasonable for the buffet. The shower had some issues- no matter how careful we were water always spilled all over the floor, and it was very slippery on the bathroom floor and inside the shower.

The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Dijon. We see some improvement in the breakfast area where the the coffee machine produced an under-extracted, watery cappuccino making it undrinkable. Fortunately, there also was a Nescafe capsule machines which made good tasting coffee. Furthermore, the kitchen was unwilling to prepare freshly boiled eggs and referred to the available scrambled eggs. We have not experienced that before in five star hotels. Finally, every time we went to the gym, the container for disinfection wipes was empty.
