Very friendly team and staff - rooms are getting a bit outdated but I'm sure you'll tackle that one day. We would absolutely score a 9 for all of the above but to get the right attention we scored a 4/10. We had cockrouches in our room on multiple days - they where the smaller kind but still this felt unpleasant. We mentioned it to staff (but only to inform - we enjoyed the rest of our stay so did not need any compensation/room change that would add extra stress to the team). The exterior of the building was looking rundown and required painting. The room interior was old, dated and smelled unclean and stale. The bathroom tub was very old, very high to step into and out of and slippery. Not safe for seniors. Upon checking in the staff member asked if we wanted breakfast. I specifically asked her if it was included because of the way she asked. She definitively answered ‘yes it’s included’. My husband was there and heard exactly the same response. Therefore, based on this information we had breakfast at the buffet every morning. We would not have done so if we had to pay because I am a small eater - cereal only. On checking out after 3 days we were charged for the breakfasts. When I complained (same staff member) she called the manager over. The manager said that the staff member hadn’t said it was included. Maybe this was a language issue because we don’t speak French and she didn’t understand? In the end we weren’t charged for my breakfast but were charged my husbands.

Nous regrettons toutefois que la chambre qui vous a été attribuée n’ait pas répondu à vos attentes, notamment concernant la vue et la luminosité. Nous comprenons votre déception, surtout lorsque celle-ci était annoncée avec une vue sur la piscine. Nous prenons également note de votre remarque concernant l’absence de réfrigérateur en chambre. Votre commentaire est précieux et nous permet d’identifier les points à améliorer. Un programme de rénovation est prévu l’hiver prochain afin de moderniser nos espaces et d’améliorer encore le confort de nos chambres. Nous espérons avoir l’opportunité de vous accueillir à nouveau au Novotel Amboise et de vous offrir une expérience à la hauteur du potentiel de notre établissement.
