We had to call 3 times to get an extra blanket and were initially provided a stained blanket. No water jug - have to buy bottles of water to put in fridge, also no cutlery if you had takeaway you brought back to the room. Also had to pay for parking ontop of accommodation ($54 for two nights) and it’s a public carpark and there were few spaces left so had to park quite far away and walk over 5 minutes just to get to the elevator. When paying for parking id expect that I wouldn’t have to walk as if I found my own parking.

I stayed in a room on Level 30 on a Saturday night, and unfortunately the experience fell well short of expectations for a property of this standing. The room was extremely noisy, and I was unable to sleep after 2:00 a.M.. Persistent rocking, hammering, and thumping sounds came from both the floor above and the wall behind the bed's headboard, making rest impossible. The bathroom was particularly disappointing. Both the hot and cold water taps only rotate a half turn before stopping, which makes temperature control very difficult. To shower, I had to open the hot tap fully (as it would not turn any further) and then make extremely fine, minute adjustments to the cold tap to achieve a usable temperature. The water pressure was also very poor. In addition, there is no in-room water replenishment. Guests are required to take their bottle downstairs to the bar to request a refill, which is highly inconvenient for a hotel of this calibre. Overall, the experience felt closer to budget or dormitory-style accommodation than to a resort or holiday hotel. As a long-standing guest of Accor properties, I have noticed a clear decline from the standards I experienced in earlier years, and I was genuinely disappointed. In my view, this property does not meet a 3-star standard. I travel frequently throughout Australia, and I have stayed in motels in regional towns such as Taree that offered a noticeably better experience than this Novotel Surfers Paradise. Given the prime location of this hotel, the quality of the accommodation is difficult to justify. Regrettably, I would not choose to stay here again.

In regard to your comments surrounding in-room water, as a plastic-free hotel we no longer provide single-use bottled water in guest rooms, with refill stations available throughout the hotel as part of our sustainability initiatives. While we appreciate your disappointment, we were pleased to be able to offer accommodation at a significantly reduced rate during a high demand period, with your stay including one of our premium higher-level rooms. Regardless of the rate secured, we recognise that every guest should enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and we regret that this was not your experience on this occasion.
