The location is great and confirmed why we chose it. The room provided was as requested (high room (34th floor) and great views.) Check in was lovely and the staff were very helpful. After checking in we discovered the room was not very clean. We found items in the cupboards that needed washing. We also discovered the bathroom door was covered in what appeared to be black mould. The bathroom mirror was complete with a dead insect that remained there for our stay. The sliding balcony doors did not operated correctly - it was not possible to latch them from the inside to prevent them being pulled open from outside. Whenever I have stayed on the Gold Coast, hotels always stress that balcony doors should be secured when going out and also at night time. We reported the door issue twice to staff and it was never fixed. Also reported the mould issue to staff twice and it was never fixed. The latter, in my opinion, is a health issue, and the former is a building safety / compliance issue. We were disappointed that there was no room service or bar / restaurant available which we learned about AFTER the booking was made. Upon enquiry I was told that there was not to be any compensation for this as the room was already discounted- I don't believe this to be the case. We were offered a bottle of wine instead of our Accor welcome drinks and asked what type we would like. A bottle of red wine was provided, despite requesting sparking wine. The room looks like it needs a thorough clean with carpets very dirty (especially near the wardrobe area in master bedroom), and bedroom furniture and other furniture in the room was dirty - ingrained dirt on white timbers. Due to the health and safety hazards in the room, we considered leaving and moving somewhere else, but our schedule really prevented this from being a reasonable outcome. Even at checkout we spoke with the staff member about the room's issues, and they didn't appear concerned. As an Accor Gold member and based on the price of the room, I don't feel that it was very good value for money or a quality overall experience. The later checkout time request was met and we were grateful to have a little more time to pack our belongings.
