Was overall very happy with the stay, the smell of a rubbish tip though was very strong throughout the corridors and lifts ( I did report this to the desk)

Got told we got an upgrade room was in really poor condition. Massive amount of hair in the shower drain causing the drain to be blocked. We cleaned it out. The Ac had an acid smell coming from it then it stopped working. We were made to feel as it was our fault as they demanded key returns early Even after we had explained that we would have to do it once we retired at 11pm. Only to be locked out of the floor and unable to retrieve our belongings. Then rushed in the morning and spoken to extremely rudely by the lady at the counter. We stay a lot in hotels on the gold coast and hands down this was out worst experience yet.

We have been Accor members for years now and it’s not uncommon to be upgraded to a better room! On this occasion we were told we got an upgrade but the room was in pretty poor condition. We had to clean a lot of the room the first day. There was a massive hairball in the shower which completely blocked the plug hole and the floor was really dirty. On the Saturday morning a really bad smell like ground fibre glass or sulphuric acid smell was coming from the ac vent so we turned the ac off and reported it as we couldn’t breath in the room. We went out for the day and turned the ac back on when we returned. The smell was still present and the ac was blowing hot air the entire time until it ceased working at about midnight. So not much sleep was had that night due to having to open the door to the street to try and keep our son cool and asleep. The next morning I reported the problem and the lovely girls at the counter were very helpful and gave us another great room.(it was way better) I explained to them that we were headed to CMC and didn’t have time to transfer all of our gear to the other room until we returned at around 11:30pm. Once back I was trying to get back onto that floor but the fob had been disabled so I had to return to the counter were luckily the lady was just leaving and she was very kind and sorted the issue and I was able to move our gear to the other room. That morning (Monday) I got an abrupt call from the main desk demanding the keys back immediately which was fine but rude. I went down to drop the key off but had left one in the other car which I explained and I would get it back straight away which I did and she wasn’t very happy about that not listening to what I had just explained. Meanwhile I was trying to pack up to check out of the room at 10 so I was extremely rushed the entire time. Mind you we were going to book another night but after that experience we decided not to and went and booked elsewhere. It really put a dampener on the whole trip. I was treated as though I was an inconvenience and a problem when it was your room that failed!! It was extremely unenjoyable.
