We stayed at BreakFree Long Beach for a special trip. It was my partners first time overseas and my first in over 15 years, celebrating our 10-year anniversary so we were really looking forward to it. The view was great from the 24th floor. On arrival, the kitchen looked recently updated and was a great first impression as the photos in the booking showed quite an old kitchen. The bathroom was in a poor state of cleanliness. There was mould around fixtures, small hairs throughout, dirty mirrors, a dirty bath floor, and unclean skirting boards. It was bad enough that I had to go and buy cleaning products before I could use it. The dryer was also off its hinges, which my partner ended up fixing himself. The air vent was clogged full of dust, which won't be helping with aeration, there was mould growing in the shower. The shower tub was very high to get into, the shower head was adjustable but water pressure not the best so couldn't really adjust it or the water was going onto the edge of the bath - not suitable if you're taller than me (160cm). My partner struggled to be comfortable using the shower. I didn't end up taking photos of this, as I was in a rush to get it clean to feel comfortable. The ranch slider door was extremely difficult to open and seems like the track needs repair. The kitchen, while modern had mould around the sink, a range hood that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, and visible grease and dust buildup on the wall. It doesn't look as though its had a deep clean in a long time. The walls were dirty, stains on couches etc. All small things that added up to a lot of uncleanliness. After doing a bit of reading, I can see this is a common issue raised in reviews, and it doesn't seem to be fixed on newer reviews. I did reach out to management via email and attached photos. When I arrived back in New Zealand, I saw there had been a text response, as an international traveller my SIM was off, so I would have expected communication via email. Unfortunately, none of the concerns were addressed during our stay. I did reply to the text on arrival home, but had no response so assuming it didn't go through? Aside from these issues, the rest of the stay was fine but overall it was disappointing and took away from what should have been a really special trip as I had to spend the first night cleaning to feel comfortable staying there.
