Greater Western Sydney

Encompassing a large spread of land and a number of small cities, Greater Western Sydney has much to offer visitors to Sydney. With everything from stunning National Parks to sprawling shopping centres, the western suburbs of Sydney have something for everyone. Greater Western Sydney has many beautiful parks, reserves and bushland areas. Dharawal National Park, Lake Parramatta Reserve, Regatta Park Picnic Reserve, and Thirlmere Lakes National Park offer a great day out for some sightseeing, nature spotting, bushwalks and picnics. Bents Basin is another favourite, and is the perfect place for swimming, canoeing and fishing. There are activities aplenty in the western suburbs, with karting, bowling, laser tag, horse riding, and indoor and outdoor skydiving. Head to Penrith for aqua golf, whitewater rafting and wake boarding, or to Sydney Olympic Park for swimming and archery. Golfing is popular, with a range of stunning courses around the region, while sports and music fans can attend a variety of sporting events and concerts at ANZ Stadium and Allphones Arena. The arts are also well-represented, with a range of museums and galleries, such as the Campbelltown Arts Centre, the Blacktown Arts Centre, and the Museum of Fire. Visitors can enjoy a day out in the country’s largest botanic garden at the Australian Botanic Garden, see some native flora and fauna at a wildlife park, or sample a tipple or two at one of the region’s many wineries and breweries.
