Stop blocking Duckmill Lane

Stop blocking Duckmill Lane every morning at 8am. You don't have the right to cause traffic chaos during rush hour every morning just because your delivery driver is too lazy to park up and walk a bit further with the linen delivery.

The hotel itself was well located, the communal areas were nice, and most of the staff were friendly. Parking was also very convenient, even if there was quite a trek to get back and forth from the car to the room. However overall the experience was not what we expect from a stay at a Mercure. Our arrival was friendly but chaotic - we had booked adjoining rooms but we were allocated non adjoining rooms and when this was rectified there was then a big delay in finding the keys to unlock the doors between the rooms. Once we were in our accommodation, the rooms were very dark (one small ceiling down-light in a large room) and cold (the room heating was poor in one room and totally non-functional in the other with a small plug-in heater provided) and the decor in the corridors looked very tired. Finally, one of the rooms had not had the shower gel dispenser filled which caused a bit of an issue during my daughter's shower. Most disappointing however was the breakfast - we have got used to excellent breakfasts at Mercure hotels in France and this was substandard even compared to budget hotels in the UK - the coffee was absolutely awful, the sausages tasteless and the general array of food available was poor. The only redeeming point was the bacon which was OK, and the views over the river which were lovely. At the end of our stay we mentioned that our heating hadn't been working to the lady at the checkout who just shrugged. I also had to convince her that we hadn't paid as apparently payment should have taken on arrival but wasn't (I think there was some confusion about how I had part-paid with loyalty points). I suppose the main issue was that we had relatively high expectations having enjoyed stays in numerous Mercure Hotels in France and this stay did not meet that same quality we were expecting. A few improvements and this could have been a lovely stay, but as it is we are hard pressed to justify staying again.
