The staff at the hotel were great. The bar and dining area are well set out and pleasant to eat and drink in. However the rooms are date and could to with a complete overall.

Reception were really nice and very helpful especially the night staff. However the hotel lets itself down by the shocking rooms. Shower is outdated sinks rusting in places. Room furniture ripped and shabby, the bed uncomfortable likely an old mattress. Curtains old and needing cleaned. The room was freezing given the heating wasn’t working and for £99 that I paid it was simply absolutely shocking.

Location was good for our purpose. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was in need of an upgrade. There was only one chair for a 2 person stay, the floor from the bed to the bathroom was so creaky it was an embarrassment to walk on, I would not have wanted to be in the room below. The food on the new menu is excellent. Highly recommend the Thai Penang Vegetable Curry and the Slow Cooked Belly Pork.

Overall, felt cold everywhere in the hotel , including rest not very cosy, if you like that thing. Looks like it hasn't changed in 30 years since I last was there.
