My partner became unwell and we decided it would be less of a potential problem if we left and returned home on Christmas morning. We had delivered gifts to family and had sufficient provisions to cover our needs when we returned. Fortunately she recovered within a day or so. I would comment that on arrival our room (111) was particularly cold and although we tried to adjust the heating as is normal in our hotels used in the winter, the instructions for adjustment were not at all clear. The next morning the receptionist was very helpful with her explanations.

Could do with a refurb. Threadbare carpets in hallway and room. Breakfast was poor. When we entered restuarant we were told breakfast was made to order, yet when it arrived the beans were cold, egg was cold and rubbery and bacon was dried up. The only thing that was warm was the solitary link. Also went to put some lemon curd on my toast but it was moldy so gave it a miss. I suppose I shouldn't have been expecting too much for the price we paid.

Very poor. The rooms are in urgent need of an upgrade. Floor was very squeaky - noise every time we moved. We had to change rooms twice. I've no idea how this place became a Mercure. It is nowhere near brand standards.

Very satisfactory for our overnight stay. Breakfast was very good, but the plates were cold. Perhaps this could be rectified as the food cooled very quickly.

I had the best time . Your Christmas party night was amazing . Great food , and the place looked fantastic. Staff very helpful . The swimming pool was so good to brush off the partying from the night before . And the breakfast was so yummy and hot . Rooms very good size and clean. Thank you to the lovely staff who watched after us, it's just a pity the hotel is not up to their standard, from the towels which are rough and shabby, to the rooms which have seen better days.

Pros: There was a cosy and welcoming feeling. Staff was polite and helpful. The bed was confortable and good sized , the cleanliness was good. Contras: there was a slight draft in the room ( wind filtering through the windows ). The breakfast looked quite poor in quantity and choice and display. The mini croissants/pain au chocolat were stale.

Great choice and quality of meals. Room is outdated, floor creaky. Still a reasonably good stay. Breakfast could be offered earlier for those guests who have to set off early.

hi there we stayed on Sunday 15th of December, had a lovely room and very comfortable stay, we have stayed there a few times and loved it, staff are very friendly but the only thing I was disappointed in was the breakfast, the potato scones were brick hard as well as some of the other breakfast so we couldn't eat most of it. it's usually lovely
