After several attempts to gain access to our room we were then changed into another room. Out dated furniture, bad drain smell, and out dated decor. The bed itself was comfy and the room was clean, Staff were lovely, however the hotel in general is just outdated and in need of refurb.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Sincerely, Mercure Livingston Hotel

I didn't have much interaction with the staff, aside from check-in and check-out, but the staff I did speak to were lovely. As for the room, the drawers were slightly falling into each other - if I pulled out the bottom drawer, I had to pick up the top drawer to get the bottom back in. This was a slight inconvenience; I just chose not to use them, but it could be a problem if someone is staying longer and needs them. The rooms were quite loud - I could hear anytime someone walked past my door, and at multiple times it felt like they were coming into my room, and the lock felt quite weak, so I ended up placing a chair in front of the door for extra safety. As a woman travelling alone, this was an uneasy experience. Alongside this, I was woken up at 7 am by what sounded like drilling nearby for about 5 minutes before it stopped. I am unsure if this was staff or another room, but it was not appreciated. Finally, the room had no phone for contact reception should there be an issue. I feel that having phones in all rooms, or at least a phone number on the paper describing the hotel, would be helpful in ensuring communication between staff and guests.

Started here as a last minute trip and it says there was a gym and pool. I was advised that they have not been open since Covid. The service was good but the room was quite tired.
