The rooms were clean and comfortable but I was in an older accessible room but found it difficult to get in the bath although it was lower and maybe a nice double bed would ha e been better than two singles but overall the staff were great and couldn't have been nicer

Served a purpose to be close to both Edinburgh and Glasgow at a decent price point. Hotel is dated with old decor. Arrival is ordinary - the outside needs a little refresh, looking tired and sad.

The updated room was clean and everything needed was included. It was really quiet and so I slept well. I didn’t use the restaurant but all the staff I interacted with were very pleasant and helpful.

It is nice property and good location. One improvement is cleanliness although it was clean overall but fine through cleaning like long term stains in bath need to address. Sides of floor close to bed had some hairs which were not picked by routine hoovering. Last but not least staff can be more welcoming and friendly. They were professional but welcoming body language and what else can I do was missing.

Hotel is in a good location, however it is clear it needs a full refurbishment. Wallpaper is torn or missing in places and some of the panels on the heating in the dinning room are very untidy. Windows are well past their sell by date in most areas.

Staff really good but the hotel is very old, tv in room didn’t work, bathroom was clean but old.. did room service but no phone in room or menu, bed was comfortable tho. Internet was awful and very poor internet reception

Everything apart from the lobby need a major refurb to make it feel less like The Shining and more like “welcome to the 21st century”. Decent pictures on the website but so much gloom of impending doom once you stay. The only good things I are probably the fact it’s next to a shopping centre and the nice open meadow seen from a certain side of the hotel. I had to checkout after staying for a night because it’s very much a cross between the 70’s and the dark ages.

Friendly yet professional service from all the staff throughout our stay. Reception staff always helpful. Clean well equipped en-suite bedroom, comfortable beds. Nice bar and restaurant, with superb service from both bar and restaurant staff. Excellent breakfast together with a Simple yet varied evening menu, Very good food every time. The stay in the Mercure Livingston Hotel was reasonably comfortable. Minor issues had to do with not being able to open the window (believe that they were screwed permanently). Not sure if there was any air conditioning in the room but it felt very stuffy in the mornings. The toilet paper was of very low quality and not in keeping with the grade of the hotel! Finally, the website claimed that Edinburgh was 10 mins by car from the hotel. In fact, it was almost 35 mins when there was no traffic!!

The good: the room was quiet and had everything we needed. Staff at the restaurant were friendly and helpful. The location was convenient for getting into Edinburgh without paying Edinburgh prices. The bad: wifi didn't work, half the TV channels didn't work or worked for a while and then everything would get scrambled. I did make a member of staff aware of these issues after the first night and I'm not convinced he actually understood the problems at all. They certainly weren't fixed. Staff we dealt with at check-in and check-out were also on the surly side. Our keycards stopped working after the first night and had to be reset. Finally, the room smelled very unpleasant, as if it had long needed a deep cleaning it had never received. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.
