Poor internet connectivity for business travellers

TripAdvisor rating 2.0/5

Colin_L0nd0n Business - TripAdvisor review

I stayed here for a work visit and needed to continue working in the evenings. Internet connectivity is very poor. Reported this each day but no improvement. Unfortunately the internet is not good enough for business travellers. The room is also very cold and the aircon, although I set it to a warm temperature, made no difference. Hotel is clean and the bed is comfortable.

Hotel was clean, on entering the building the welcome made me feel like i should not have been booked in their. The room was cold had to go and ask about heat in my room, i was then give a unsafe plug in heater and told that this is what happens in Edinburgh and that all other hotel have the same issues to which i explained that i come to Edinburgh this was not my first time. at 4am i had to leave my room and ask to be moved as the room was so cold. And No toilet brush in room no other person should have to clean someone mess in the toilet.

Heating did not work the whole stay even though it was freezing outside. After claiming they gave us a portable heating where of course you could not set up a temperature so then it was too cold or too hot in the room. I stayed 4 nights and they were never able to fix the room heating in top season like New Year's Eve. The worst was the staff that promised a refund of certain amount that they never did. Only 2 breakfasts were given as compensation even though I continued claiming after I checked out and was back in my city. There are no excuses for a hotel of this category and such elevated prices to work out like this. I could not move to another hotel in the middle of the stay because I paid full amount in advance, so I would lose all in addition to paying a new hotel. Additionally, WiFi does not work. I claimed it as well and they said it was a known issue. From the comments here, it seems it is a known issue for very long ago. Avoid this hotel as long as you can, as there are planty of options available.

Definitely worth a visit

Really enjoyed our stay at this lovely little hotel. 10 minutes walk from Haymarket station and half an hours walk to Princes Street and the heart of Edinburgh. Staff were really friendly and very helpful. We were allowed to leave our luggage before we checked in so we could explore luggage free and again were allowed to leave our luggage once we had checked out which was so nice of them. Breakfast is £15 and well worth it, full english/scottish breakfast, cereals, cakes, fruit, yoghurt, toast, bagels, croissants it really sets you up for the day. Our hotel room was spotlessly clean and cleaned every day, very modern with complimentary tea/coffee and water and a fridge in the room. The lounge/reception area is also comfortable and welcoming. We would definitely recommend.
