We had a fabulous time room was great with large shower, a little dust in places & air con stopped working, staff were extremely helpful & friendly, it was a 10 minute walk to most of the sights of Edinburgh, great stay

Very mediocre experience, definitely not a 4 star rating as it claims - more like 2/3 stars. We stayed in a double bed "Prestige" room for our second wedding anniversary. Despite mentioning the special occasion multiple times while booking, absolutely nothing was done to make it special in any way which was really disappointing - not even a welcome drink which was supposed to happen anyway according to the website. Room was quite a bit smaller than we had expected but ok for two people. The bathroom was clean and had the standard range of basic toiletries (though we were supposed to get upgraded toiletries - not sure what that's about). We were expecting a rain shower per the website but it was a standard bathtub and shower. The bathtub veneer/top layer was peeling in one section which looked tacky and should really have been fixed and sorted. Shower was ok but pressure wasnt great, and the shower head kept leaking water when you took it off the stand. The room also contained an espresso machine with plenty of capsules which was great. The Prestige rooms come with free softdrinks in the minibar fridge - a nice thought but it was actually disappointing considering they only had two cans of coke and two bottles of water. The minibar wasn't refilled at any point. View from the window was disappointing - it overlooked a small courtyard with windows from other rooms on opposite walls. The TV was ok but relatively small. Most bizarrely at around 1.30am the aircon stopped working, it just turned off. I tried multiple times to change the settings and get it going, but every time after about 60s of working the aircon would stop again. I called reception and the night manager came up to have a look but said nothing could be done without maintenance people (not even a temporary move to another room as everything was booked out). However, he did provide two desk fans which were fine and did the job. We mentioned the aircon malfunction to them in the morning alongside the fact that the ceiling lights weren't working (which we only noticed in the evening). When we came back in the evening the lights and aircon were both fixed which was great! However, the aircon stopped working again after about 1-2hours of being on so we had to use the fans again. We were able to leave our luggage with them before our check-in and after our check out which was nice. Location is a bit of out of the Old Town/center, about 25m walk from the train station or you can get a bus which takes about 15m. We didn't think this was an issue and enjoyed being slightly out of town slightly and away from tourists! Worth keeping in mind though when you book.

We booked three rooms. One room was nice. One of room was inner side. Main roads you can’t see .so can’t enjoy. One room bed was broken. Complain still no one came for repairs room was clean bathroom was perfect. But what we paid. Not worth it.

From entering reception to checking out the staff were excellent. Professional and friendly front of house staff warmly helped with every request and question and the breakfast staff were very helpful at all times. Room was spotless with great amenities and a comfortable bed. This was a great stay and look forward to booking again.

We booked to stay as a little get away for our Anniversary and had such a lovely time. Breakfast and a bottle of prosecco were all included within the package we chose and we had no issues receiving these. Would highly recommend and will stay again.

We spent two separate nights at the Mercure Haymarket, from where we traveled to and from the Highlands, end of August-beginning of September, thus coinciding with the last days of the Edinburgh International Festival. The hotel was completely full. The reception team couldn't possibly be more helpful. They found us nice rooms, ensured we had our breakfast (apparently there was a problem with the reservation), offered us drinks at the bar, booked our taxis and gave us a most convenient late check-out. We have been at the Mercure Haymarket before - and will be back whenever we return to Edinburgh.

Very enjoyable stay at this hotel. Clean and comfortable throughout. Check in was delayed but receptionist gave us a free coffee which we felt was a lovely touch. Discounted parking in a safe car park was an added bonus

The staff on reception were very helpful and I was delighted to receive a room upgrade. My only criticism would be that the shower had some mould growing on the silicon. From personal experience I know this is easily treated with a specific kind of spray. This is an easy fix for What is an unsightly issue.

Really disappointed with the fact that all by the side of the bed - next to the bathroom wall was damp. The carpet was heavily stained and the wooden skirting was split apart at the corner. We eventually worked out that the shower must have been leaking- for some weeks- and the carpet was quite damp. As a result there was a smell in the room "foosty" which was also unpleasant. I mentioned it at reception and they advised that they would get maintenance to have a look but I would be really surprised if no-one else hadn't complained about it before we came to stay in the room

I have a few comments, the shower in a privilege room is supposed to be a rain fall type, ours was not, room 306. The design of the toilet door doesn't work as the case holder is to big and stops the door opening/closing. Thereafter no drawers for clothes, not very practical if your staying more than one night.

The hotel was a short walk from Haymarket Station. On arrival the staff were very welcoming and the room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was included and had a great variety of pastries, cereal, yoghurts and hot food. Definitely one of the best options I've had from a hotel and was lovely.

Staff very pleasant, except for the waiter who I asked for something and he said he would ask someone who worked there. Breakfast was really poor with watered down orange juice that didn’t taste nice at all. But staff were pleasant and bed was comfortable. Location was decent too.

We arrived at the hotel and enquired about breakfast options for my 2 daughters who are coeliac (cannot eat gluten), I was informed that they would speak to the restaurant and let me know. They then came back to me saying that it would be no problem, they have gluten free bread and would purchase gluten free sausages - at that point I booked breakfast for both days. We arrived for breakfast the first morning and was asked for our room number, I mentioned about the gluten free and was told that yes, they had been informed. They then told me that all items in the hot buffet were gluten free - I queried this and asked about the sausages and was told again that yes, all the items were gluten free and if gluten free bread was wanted then he would bring that out. The next day we arrived for breakfast, gave our room number and I asked if the hot buffet was all gluten free again - I was told that no it wasn't, I was then told that they didn't have any gluten free sausages but could go to the shop if we wanted. I replied that we were told it was all gluten free the previous day and that we had already asked for them to purchase the gluten free items 2 days ago. It was reiterated to me that a few of the items in the hot buffet did in fact contain gluten. It appears that this hotel did not actually care about guests with food allergies and decided to just "tell them it's gluten free" and in effect poison my 2 daughters. This is unacceptable, I did email both the hotel and Accor but so far they have refused to respond. On top of this we had paid for a privilege room but had in fact not been given a privilege room - this was not mentioned to us at check in - I only realised when I saw another room had privilege room on the front of the door. I complained about this and was told that the hotel only had a small number of privilege rooms and they had tried to prepare our room as if it was a privilege room - which they hadn't. Also I am an Accor Gold member and only received my complimentary drinks vouchers when I challenged reception for them, I never received the welcome gift that all Gold members are supposed to receive. That's a lot of issues for one hotel but my main complaint is the disregard for Food Hygiene/Allergy awareness as I have not received any response from Accor I will refer this to the Edinburgh Environmental Health department/Food Standards.
