Good stay

The hotel was nice but a bit too overpriced. The location was quite good. I asked in the reception for an additional coffee sachet, as I like my coffee really strong, was told that a member of the staff would deliver it to my room which didn’t happen.

Close to Haymarket station

I booked a so-called ‘Privilege Room’ for 3 nights at the end of the Edinburgh Festival and was extremely disappointed. Despite paying around £300/night I arrived to discover that breakfast wasn’t included and other than a few drinks in a mini bar no idea what the ‘Privilege’ element really was, the room was tiny as was the bed. On my penultimate day I returned at 3pm to discover the room had not been made up. I asked if it could be but had to wait in the lobby for over 90 minutes for someone to tidy the room after being told that that day’s check-outs took priority. Mold on the rear of the room curtain and constant noise from the rooftop fan added to an unpleasant experience. The staff seemed to have no interest in making the stay better for us. It absolutely ruined what was supposed to be a lovely weekend away with my partner. I’ve stayed at this hotel many times as a solo business guest but will not be doing so again. The cost was punitive for such an awful experience and I’d really appreciate you considering a partial refund.

Good hotel, if a tad expensive

Maz80London Business - TripAdvisor review

Location is approx 20 to 25 minute walk from the Old Town. The common areas are nice, but not perhaps as much of a wow as similar priced/level hotels. Staff were very friendly and checked me in efficiently. I only had one normal teabag on the room, however I requested more and it was dealt with quickly. Room had a coffee machine, fridge and safe. The room was clean and had smart modern decor. It seemed clean. Air con was very effective, so much so that I had to put the temperature up. USB sockets to charge devices which is always helpful. I didn’t have breakfast so I can’t comment on that. I stayed here in August while the Fringe Festival was on, so potentially the high price was because of that.

Hi Maz, Thank you for the wonderful comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket. We look forward to welcoming you back next time you’re in Edinburgh. Kind Regards, Reservation Team

Convenient

We were attending the Fringe and staying 2 nights. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. As we had originally only booked the room, breakfast was an extra. As the charge was £18+ and we only wanted a continental, we felt the charge was exorbitant so we went elsewhere. Also the car park was not very convenient for unloading and loading any luggage as it was in an underground car park over 150 yards away in the next block.
