Dear Ibis Budget Edinburgh Airport Management, I’m writing to request a refund of the remaining 50% of the cost of our stay. Although I acknowledge the partial refund already issued, I do not believe it adequately reflects what happened or the impact it had on my daughter and me. We booked the room specifically so that we could sleep and recover after a long-haul flight before continuing our journey to Glasgow. We were both exhausted, and my autistic daughter was fast asleep when an extremely loud fire alarm and bright flashing red light were suddenly activated inside our accessible room. All of the hotel notifications we saw stated that the alarm testing would take place on Friday. However, the test was carried out on Thursday. We were given no warning by any member of staff, despite staff presumably knowing that the test was about to take place. Had we been correctly informed, we would not have remained in the room. The unexpected alarm and flashing light caused my daughter extreme distress and a severe autistic meltdown. This was an entirely avoidable situation. As her mother, I was left to calm and support her while also dealing with my own distress, without any meaningful assistance from the hotel. The room had been booked to provide us with a safe and quiet place to rest. Instead, the hotel’s incorrect written information and failure to warn us meant that the room could not serve the basic purpose for which we had paid. I would also like to acknowledge that Maris was kind and compassionate when she became involved. Unfortunately, the assistant manager who later contacted me was rude, argumentative and dismissive. Rather than listening to what had happened and recognising the seriousness of the situation, her manner added considerably to an already distressing experience. This was not a minor inconvenience or a simple complaint about noise. It involved incorrect information, a complete lack of warning, a serious impact on a disabled child and an inadequate response afterwards. For these reasons, a 50% refund is not sufficient. I expect the remaining 50% to be refunded so that the stay is reimbursed in full. Please confirm in writing that the full refund has now been authorised. Kind regards, Christine H.

Fire drills are a legal requirement under UK fire safety regulations and, for safety reasons, are not announced in advance. We had a great overnight stay - easy check in , helpful staff . Clean , comfortable rooms , perfect location . Breakfast was ok. What was concerning was that we found stairs to be locked at the bottom - major health and safety issue. My son is scared of elevators so we use stairs , one set was fine but we went down the other set in the morning , walked down from floor 3 only to find the door padlocked at the bottom . Very very concerning , had their been a fire

A bizarre room where the glass fronted shower cubicle and sink were just in the room so if you were having a shower the other person could see, especially when there was a mirror opposite the shower! Perhaps fine for a couple but as it was a twin room it seemed odd. That’s before we foolishly opened the shower door to find it stank like a broken drain. As we’d arrived late and had to leave early for a flight we didn’t try changing the room and we didn't need a shower but I wouldn’t stay there again.

My family and I spent a week in a triple room. There is no major negative criticism to report except that in my opinion the triple rooms are too small for three people. In particular, there is no room to store clothing forcing guests to keep clothes in their luggage and push said luggage under the bed. For those who propose to stay only the night, then yes, it would not be a problem but a longer sojourn would be too much to bear.
