Awful Staff and Not Dog-Friendly

My experience at this hotel was incredibly disappointing. I’ve travelled extensively with my dogs—who have lived in four countries and stayed in countless hotels—without ever having an issue. Here, I was repeatedly harassed by staff for leaving my dogs alone for just 10 minutes, making the stay feel restrictive and unpleasant. This hotel is far from dog-friendly unless you plan never to leave your room. The staff were some of the rudest I’ve encountered. One receptionist intentionally hyped up my dogs at check-in, causing unnecessary chaos, and another knocked on my door at 11 AM despite the 12 PM checkout time. Their behaviour was unprofessional and made me feel unwelcome throughout my stay. The hotel itself is outdated and barely meets basic standards, but the terrible service and unreasonable pet policy were the worst parts. I cancelled my second night and will never stay at an Ibis hotel again. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you’re travelling with pets.

As a dog-friendly hotel, we are committed to welcoming responsible dog owners and ensuring all our guests, human and canine alike, have a safe and enjoyable experience. Our policy requires dogs to be kept on a lead and the lead to be held at all times within the hotel to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. During check-in, our receptionist did greet and pet your dogs, to keep them at reception as you let go of the lead. We ask that dogs are not left unattended in rooms for their own safety, as well as the safety of others. We explained this policy several times to you as you kept leaving them unattended! This ensures that pets are safe in an unfamiliar environment and allows us to respond quickly in case of any emergencies (such as a fire alarm). In addition, this policy helps maintain a peaceful environment for all our guests, as some dogs may experience anxiety in new places and could bark. We understand that you may have found this rule inconvenient. When we approached you regarding the policy, our intention was to ensure your dogs were safe and to ensure a peaceful experience for all guests. Many Thanks Beverley

Staff very welcoming and friendly but rooms shabby - clean but very tired with stained carpets, curtains, chipped desk etc. feels like a cash cow for Ibis that needs investment.
