Very well located hotel, ideal for what we needed. A bit noisy outside, but that was to be expected, and ear plugs were provided! The only small concern was the climate control not working, although a desk fan was provided. Great staff and will stay again.

Room 233 was very basic - no ear plugs as indicated on welcome card, dirt flooring, gaps in flooring , poor quality toilet paper, no iron, extra charges for parking out of check in time. Uncomfortable bed, noisy location outside - best thing was the room had electricity.

We stayed here for 2 nights for my husband's birthday and got the train into Edinburgh on the actual day. We have stayed here several times as it is convenient from our home in the south Lakes and for onward travel. It is good value, clean, and staff are friendly and efficient. Our Retriever Echo was made welcome and was able to sit by us for breakfast in small area by window. Good choice for breakfast.

Room overall was in need of refurbishment Shower base cracked. Floor joints opening up leaving gaps collecting dust. Sealent around floor/ skirting was mouldy/ dirty. Room was dusty. From 1am until our departure the toilet then randomly continued flushing. Even with bathroom door shut this could be heard & kept us awake for most of the night. Reported to staff on checkout. Half hearted apology give by member of staff

This hotel is convenient and within walking distance to Carilesle train station. However it is surrounded by noisy pubs. We even heard people arguing and loud talking around 2 am.

Room was dirty the fan was covered in dust, skirting board was off the wall and lay on the floor for full duration of my stay even after telling the staff that the floor was dirty in the corners and about the skirting boards
